The Steelers brought in 3 more prospects for pre draft visits today. Akiem Hicks has already been reported but finally made his visit today. The other two were tight end Michael Egnew and linebacker Nick Perry.
Nick Perry is a defensive end for USC. I have Perry rated as a first round prospect. He would be an outside linebacker for the Steelers. He is 6’3 and 250 pounds and has a quick burst off the edge. He can be a good pass rusher but he belongs more in a 4-3 defense as a pass rush end. I also can not see the Steelers taking another outside linebacker this early with Jason Worilds and Chris Carter on the roster.
Michael Egnew is a spread type tight end. At Missouri he spent more time spread out then he did as an inline blocker. He would be more of a pass catching tight end then a run blocker. If the Steelers continue to pass the way they are then Egnew would fit in well. He would give the team a big target over the middle and for the red zone.
The Steelers have now had either 13 reported visits to the facility. That is not counting the local prospects. They are allowed to have up to 30. With just over 2 weeks before the draft visits should come quickly.
