The Steelers are trying to fill needs via free agency and running back is a gaping hole. The team spent time kicking the tires on former Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw, but he couldn’t pass a physical and was placed on the back burner. According to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Steelers are looking at Cardinals free agent running back La’Rod Stephens-Howling in their search to acquire some depth at the position. The team will also host 49ers free agent linebacker Tavares Gooden and Texans free agent guard Antoine Caldwell. Darin Gantt of Profootballtalk.com writes: ‘Of the lot of them, Stephens-Howling is the most interesting, since he’s unlike the rest of the backs on the Steelers roster at the moment. He’s more of a third down back/returner, and would fill the role they envisioned for the released Chris Rainey. The Pitt product has been a solid special teamer and part-time player for the Cardinals.’   var switchTo5x=true; stLight.options({publisher:''});
