Pittsburgh Steelers president Art Rooney II suggested that the team has a number of big decisions to make regarding their current roster and some of the players who will become free agents in the coming months. “As it stands today, it doesn’t all fit.” Rooney said, via the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “We have work to do, whether that’s players not being here or players restructuring contracts, we will see. We’ve got work to do. There’s no doubt.“ The Steelers are projected to be at least $10 million over next year’s salary cap and have players like Mike Wallace and Rashard Mendenhall set to become unrestricted free agents. There has been plenty of speculation that neither player will be brought back next season. Wallace is looking for a huge contract and the fact that Pittsburgh has already committed to Antonio Brown long-term suggests that it’s highly unlikely that they’ll be able to come anywhere near his asking price. The team hasn’t show a lot of interest in bringing back Mendenhall next season, so it seems likely that he’ll be playing elsewhere next season. We have Wallace listed as the No. 12 best available player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
