Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that the Steelers have reached an impasse in regarding to restructuring OLB James Harrison‘s contract. Bouchette adds that ”the chance has increased that the star linebacker could be released soon.” Harrison, 34, has two years remaining on his contract with base salaries of $6.57 million and $7.575 million respectively. The problem is that Harrison carries cap figures of $10.035 and $9.04 million over the next two years and the Steelers could really use some addition cap space. Harrison underwent knee surgery last August, but still wound up with six sacks. If Pittsburgh were to release him, they’d own him $4.93 million, but unless he’s willing to work with them regarding a reasonable salary, there’s a decent chance that he could be released in the next few days.   The post Steelers Getting Close To Releasing OLB James Harrison? appeared first on NFL Trade Rumors -.
