Found October 08, 2013 on Steelers Depot:
Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin met the media on Tuesday for his weekly press conference in preparation for the Sunday game against the New York Jets and updated the injury situation during the beginning of his talk. Safety Da'Mon Cromartie-Smith (hip) is dealing with a left hip flexor injury that he suffered in the loss to the Minnesota Vikings and Tomlin termed him questionable to start the week. According to Tomlin, guard Ramon Foster (pectoral) worked in a partial capacity on Monday with his left pectoral strain and they will anticipate him to continue to do so moving forward through the rest of the week. What Foster is able to do in pads later in the week is going to be critical, he said. Linebacker Kion Wilson (hamstring) worked in a partial capacity Monday and they will monitor his progress as the week progresses. Wide receiver Markus Wheaton (finger) was ruled out for the Sunday game by Tomlin after having surgery last week on the pinky finger that he broke in...

What Kind of Changes Were You Expecting From Tomlin?

Mike Tomlin’s first press conference as the head coach of an 0-4 team was short, poorly attended and offered the usual clichés and the overuse of the word, “obviously.” It also provided us with a couple of changes for Sunday’s game in New York against the Jets. First, Kelvin Beachum will get the start at left tackle and will be backed up by newly acquired Levi Brown. This...

Tomlin Says Lack Of Turnovers And Sacks Are Mostly A Result Of Them Being Behind

Prior to the game against the Minnesota Vikings, I wrote about how the Pittsburgh Steelers lack of defensive sacks and turnovers was tied to them not being ahead on the scoreboard and I warned that it was unlikely to change until the offense started to get leads, especially in the second half of games. Tuesday, head coach Mike Tomlin confirmed what I wrote during his interview on...

Mike Tomlin Says Levi Brown Was A ‘Critical Acquisition’

During his Tuesday press conference, Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin might have dropped a few hints as to what he thinks the starting offensive line might actually be Sunday against the New York Jets. The Steelers of course acquired veteran tackle Levi Brown via a trade last week with the Arizona Cardinals and Tomlin called the move a "critical acquisition" during...

Steelers Injury Report: G Ramon Foster Practiced Fully On Wednesday

The Pittsburgh Steelers first injury report for their upcoming game Sunday against the New York Jets is now in and it includes some news. Guard Ramon Foster (pectoral) practiced fully Wednesday and as of right now appears to be on track to play against the Jets. Foster re-aggravated the injury that he suffered initially against the Chicago Bears during the first half of the game...

Steelers G Ramon Foster Considers Himself Day-To-Day With Tolerable Pain

Pittsburgh Steelers left guard Ramon Foster practiced on Monday as the team returned to practice following the bye week, but he considers himself day-to-day right now with the pectoral strain that re-aggravated in the loss to the Minnesota Vikings. "Its fine," said Foster following Monday's practice. "We'll see how it is on Wednesday whenever we put on pads...

Mike Tomlin Says Mike Adams Demotion Is An Opportunity To Define Him And His Career

The Pittsburgh Steelers demoted second-year tackle Mike Adams following his play in the loss to the Minnesota Vikings and Tuesday during his press conference, head coach Mike Tomlin was asked if he still sees something in the Ohio State product moving forward. "Absolutely I do," Tomlin said. "The most important thing is not maybe what's happened to him to this...

Ben Roethlisberger responds to ‘tone Ben down’ comment made by Ryan Clark

Pittsburgh Steelers safety Ryan Clark made a comment about Ben Roethlisberger’s style of play when he spent part of his bye week as an NFL analyst for ESPN. “You to have to protect Ben against Ben,” Clark said on ESPN. “Right now, we have to tone Ben down in a sense and say, ‘Hey, right now, we’re not a good enough football team for you to try to

Ryan Clark: Steelers will make the playoffs

Ryan Clark told Alan Robinson of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that he believes the winless Steelers can still make the playoffs. “I just believe we can win. That’s just the bottom line,” Clark said Tuesday. “I think we have the people in this room, the coaches (to win). Also, looking at our schedule, we’re not playing world beaters, we’re not playing gods. We’re

Three Questions Facing The Steelers Coming Out Of The Bye

The Pittsburgh Steelers get back to work following their bye week as they will prepare to face the New York Jets next Monday. Below are three questions that need to be answered over the course of this next week. Who is going to play left tackle? The Steelers traded for Levi Brown last week, but he will not practice with the team until Monday. Being as the team has Tuesday off, that...

Heyward Named Starter At LDE

At his post-bye press conference Mike Tomlin revealed another lineup change: Cameron Heyward will replace Ziggy Hood at left defensive end.

Personnel Moves By Steelers Done With Contracts in Mind

Evander “Ziggy” Hood has started 43 games for the Pittsburgh Steelers since being drafted in 2009. In that time he has amassed over 100 tackles and has 8.5 career sacks. He is also in the final year of his rookie contract and he will not be starting Sunday’s game in New York. Ryan Clark has been with the Steelers since 2006 and has been a key member of several top-ranked defenses...

Steelers Like The Continued Evolution Of Rookie LB Vince Williams

A few weeks ago, the Pittsburgh Steelers were hoping rookie linebacker Vince Williams would start to separate himself from Kion Wilson at the buck inside linebacker position and according to head coach Mike Tomlin on Tuesday, that separation has now taken place. "He's been solid not only in performance, but in communication," said Tomlin about Williams. "I like...

Steelers Continue To Use DE Cameron Heyward Mostly In Sub Packages

Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end Cameron Heyward saw a season-low 19 snaps in the loss to the Minnesota Vikings and if you are wondering why that was, it's really quite simple. Prior to the season starting, head coach Mike Tomlin said that the third-year Ohio state product would be playing mostly in sub packages. "We feel very good about Cam Heyward," said Tomlin back...
