Hines Ward never could envision himself wearing a uniform other than the one he wore 14 years with the Steelers but Casey Hampton doesnt feel the same.
Im a little different than Hines, said the Steelers burly nose tackle.
Following the 2011 season, the Steelers informed Ward that he would not be part of their future even though he was the franchises all-time leading receiver. But he never considered playing a 15th season with another team at the age of 36.
Hampton, however, believes he can play for two more years. He'd prefer to finish his career where it started but he also understands the business side of football.
If the Steelers dont re-sign him, Hampton will sign with the highest bidder as an unrestricted free agent.
I want to play, and if someone wants me to play for them, Im going to play," Hampton said. "Thats just the way it is.

Two Changes the Steelers Must Make in 2013
The personnel side of changes will take care of themselves as the off-season begins about 4pm on Sunday for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Decisions of who will be cut and who will be scouted in the draft are already underway but there are two specific changes I’m looking forward to the Steelers making on the coaching staff.
The first thing that needs to be addressed is somewhat taking...
Steelers NT Casey Hampton Open To Playing Elsewhere Next Season
Steelers NT Casey Hampton has been a staple of Pittsburgh’s defense for the past 12 seasons, but the 35-year-old is set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season and there has been plenty of attention paid to the overall age of the team’s defense unit.
Hampton appears to be more than aware of the situation that he’ll be faced with in March, but believes...
Steelers represented at the Pro Bowl with 2 players, none from the defense
For the 12th year in a row the Steelers will send multiple players to represent the team in the annual Pro Bowl game. Now, multiple normally implies more than 2, at least in my mind but considering how this season as gone there really weren’t many deserving on the team unfortunately so we’ll take what we can get right? This is the fewest number the team has sent since 2000 when...

Roethlisberger blames self for Steelers collapse
Ben Roethlisberger's passing rating and passing yards per game are up from his career average, while his completion rate is the same it's been over his eight year NFL career.
But Roethlisberger says its how he's played which has put the Pittsburgh Steelers (7-8) out of the playoffs.
"A lot of it just has to do with me not playing well enough down the stretch...
Ben Roethlisberger at a loss to explain drop in 4th quarter rallies this season
It was almost a staple in Pittsburgh. Being down in the fourth quarter pushed the Steelers offense into overdrive, with Big Ben manufacturing late rallies to win close games.
This season, not so much, and QB Ben Roethlisberger can’t quite put his finger on it. He’s 2 for 7 in 8 games that were decided by 3 points.
"In the past, I've prided myself and our team in...

Week 17 Doesn’t Have to Be Boring
It’s hard to claim that this upcoming weekend of NFL action will be particularly inspiring for Steeler Addicts. It’s a final home-stand against the lowly Browns in a lost season. Moreover, your fantasy football league is already over, so there’s nothing left to care about there either.
If you’re searching for a reason to give a s*** about the NFL this weekend, you aren...

Steelers Offensive Line Breakdown – Cincinnati Bengals – Week 16
Below is the week 16 offensive line breakdown for the Pittsburgh Steelers loss to the Cincinnati Bengals this past Sunday.
Not a great showing in this game from the group as a whole as they allowed four sacks and several pressures in the game. The run blocking also was not up to standard as they had trouble controlling the interior of the line.
