The Pittsburgh Steelers had to release James Harrison due to the fact that they could not agree on a new deal. Harrison who has been a vocal leader for the Steelers defense ends his tenure in Pittsburgh. The five time Pro Bowler tweeted out, “It’s been a great run but all good things must come to a end. Thank you Steelers Nation I will miss you all!” There have been talks between the Steelers front office and Harrison’s agent Bill Parise to get a deal that keep Harrison in Pittsburgh, but both sides couldn’t agree on contract terms. Harrison was looking to make a little more than $6.5 million next season, but since the team released him the Steelers now have a bit over $5 million in salary cap space. Now with that extra cap space the Steelers can look at bringing back other free agents like Emmanuel Sanders, Steve McLendon, and running backs Isaac Redman and Jonathan Dwyer. On the release of Harrison, Steelers general manager, Kevin Colbert said, “James has been an integral part of our success during his years in Pittsburgh and has helped us win two Lombardi trophies during that time. We appreciate all of his efforts and wish him the best.” In Baltimore wide receiver Anquan Boldin told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that the Ravens have not communicated anything to him about restructuring his current contract. If Boldin stays in Baltimore he will look to make $6 million for the 2013 season. According to a report from Fox Sports, Baltimore told Boldin that he needed to take a pay cut to say on the team, while USA Today stated the opposite citing Boldin declined the Ravens offer. If the Ravens do decide to cut him if a deal can’t be reached, Anquan did tell reporters that he would consider retiring from the NFL. The Kansas City Chiefs keep on making moves this offseason. Head coach Andy Reid is molding his new team with players he feels will put the Chiefs in a better place in the AFC West. Kansas City signed former Atlanta Falcons cornerback Dunta Robinson. Robinson inked a three year deal with the Chiefs.
