The Steelers do not know if safety Ryan Clark or outside linebacker LaMarr Woodley will be able to play Sunday against the New York Giants in East Rutherford, N.J. Clark sustained a concussion against the Washington Redskins and Coach Mike Tomlin said he still has to go through a battery of tests this week before it is determined if he can practice or play against the Giants. "We will continue to monitor his progress," Tomlin saidtoday during his weekly news conference. Woodley aggravated a right hamstring injury against the Redskins that caused him to miss an Oct. 11 game in Tennessee. Tomlin said Woodley's injury "looks more promising" than the hamstring injury sustained by backup linebacker Stevenson Sylvester, whom he said is "questionable" to play against the Giants. Wallace’s Post-Game Comments Just the Beginning?

It may seem like a decade ago, but it really was just this past summer and entire preseason where Pittsburgh Steelers’ wideout Mike Wallace sat out in a contract dispute with the team. Wallace certainly didn’t do himself any favors with the fan base, but I think in general, many fans understood what Wallace was doing as other players in the league went down with injuries in the...

Adams and Gilbert Could be Steelers Bookends

The Steelers have drafted offensive tackles in the second round of the past two NFL Drafts. A year ago they drafted Marcus Gilbert and the thought at the time was he would be molded into the future left tackle with Willie Colon at right tackle, but oh how things change. Willie Colon was lost for the ContinueThe post Adams and Gilbert Could be Steelers Bookends appeared first on SteelBlitz.

Roethlisberger reaping benefits of the “dink and dunk” Steelers offense

It’s funny how controversial this term, “dink and dunk” can be when it comes to football these days. It’s not that there is anything wrong with it, at least I don’t think so because the ultimate goal in professional sports is to win no matter what. If it’s short passing; fine, if it’s going deep … Continue reading »

Mike Tomlin Press Conference – Giants – Tuesday – Week 9

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin met the media on Tuesday for his weekly press conference to talk about the upcoming game against the New York Giants, injuries, and more. Below are the talking points from what Tomlin had to say along with the audio. Tomlin called the performance against the Washington Redskins the most complete one so far this season, but obviously it...

Mike Adams is turning into a very good player for the Steelers

When Mike Adams was drafted, he might not had been the brightest player, but he was definitely one of the biggest.  The Steelers took him in the draft, and a good thing they did.  With the problems with the line, they might have struck gold with Adams.  Per Profootballfocus.com, Mike Adams has had a very strong last two games. Much like the right side of the Redskins’ line,...

Ben Roethlisberger Hits Ref in the Head With Pass (Video)

Big Ben Roethlisberger just plunking the referee in the head with a pass like it ain't no thing.  Don't make a bad call against the Steelers or you know what you're up against.  I just can't wait until he tries to pull that on Ed Hochuli and Ed tosses him in the torture rack until he taps out.   Video of the pass below if you missed it. P.S. Am I the...

Steelers-Giants the Game Will Go On

There were some worries that the Steelers-Giants game to be played at MetLife Stadium in New York may be effected by Hurricane Sandy. However, the stadium was not affected by the Hurricane and the game is set to be played as scheduled. There could still be complications and there are a lot of factor ContinueThe post Steelers-Giants the Game Will Go On appeared first on SteelBlitz.

Mike Tomlin Calls Steelers WR Antonio Brown's Antics 'Not Respectable'

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin was not one bit happy with the taunting penalty Antonio Brown received Sunday and he addressed the matter with the guilty party and the team as a whole. “I not only spoke to Antonio, but I spoke to our team about it,” Tomlin said today at his weekly press conference. “Briefly, simply what I said is that it was not respectable.” Brown, a wide receiver...

Steelers Versus Redskins Game Rewind – First Half Notes

The Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Washington Redskins 27-12 Sunday at Heinz Field and below are my first half notes from the game with the second half notes to follow soon. A nice start by Jonathan Dwyer as he turns a possible stuff into positive yardage. The fake bubble screen that resulted in an explosive play to Heath Miller was nicely designed and well executed. The first catch...

Pittsburgh Steelers: Week 9 NFL Power Rankings (#8)

Last week: 15 (+7) Record: 4-3 After 2 straight wins, the Steelers are back in the AFC playoff picture at 4-3 and that’s despite Troy Polamalu being out. When he’s in the lineup over the last 3 years, they allow about a touchdown less per game when he’s in there so it’s good news that they’ve been playing well without him. Ben Roethlisberger is quietly having an MVP caliber...

Steelers Versus Redskins Game Rewind – Second Half Notes

The Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Washington Redskins 27-12 Sunday at Heinz Field and below are my second half notes from the game. Here are my first half notes if you missed them. Cortez Allen makes the tackle on the opening kickoff of the second half. Robert Griffin III hits tight end Niles Paul on a deep crosser between the Steelers linebackers and the defensive backs off...

Steelers SS Troy Polamalu Out Week 9

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday safety Troy Polamalu will miss another game Week 9 at N.Y. Giants because of a calf injury. It will be the fourth straight game he sits. Source: CBSSports Attached Thumbnails

Emmanuel Sanders fake injury being evaluated

Pittsburgh Steeler wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders is stating that he will be meeting with the NFL office in regards to a leg cramp he developed in the huddle which saved the Steelers a timeout in a win over the Cincinnati Bengals.  There is no word on the type of injury he will fake to get

Sam Rosen introduces Pittsburgh Steelers as "Penguins"

As you can see in the above video, Fox announcer Sam Rosen introduced the Pittsburgh Steelers yesterday as the "Penguins" as they were running onto the field. The throwback uniforms are clearly ridiculous, so perhaps Rosen was just weirded out by them. I mean, I can't really blame him if he was. They are possibly the worst alternate uniforms I've ever seen in the...

Steelers Injury Report: Jonathan Dwyer Limited, LaMarr Woodley Remains Sidelined

The Pittsburgh Steelers resumed practice on Thursday as they prepare to take on the New York Giants Sunday at MetLife Stadium. The Thursday injury report is now out and it shows that linebacker LaMarr Woodley (hamstring), linebacker Stevenson Sylvester (hamstring) and running back Baron Batch (shin) did not practice. The status of Woodley heading into the weekend now appears to...
