Steelers coach Mike Tomlin sent a mixed message Tuesday when talking about wide receiver Mike Wallace. Tomlin acknowledged he is considering Wallace a co-starter at split end with Emmanuel Sanders, which was initially indicated when Pittsburgh released its pregame depth chart for Week 13 at Baltimore. Tomlin said "situations" will determine who starts. Tomlin also said he doesn't have a problem with Wallace's effort, but, "He's not producing in a manner that he wants to, or in a manner we want him to." Tomlin finally said Wallace "was frustrated" Sunday against the Browns, when he had one catch for 9 yards, but many passes thrown his way by quarterback Charlie Batch were off the mark. Mike Wallace losing millions every game

Saying Mike Wallace’s name is probably enough to get a grimace from most Pittsburgh Steelers fans, if not a full-out diatribe. It is a hole Mike Wallace has dug for himself, though. From promising rookie, to rising star, to possibly being exposed as a one-trick pony has Mike Wallace earned the criticism he deserved? Last year Mike Wallace started out fantastically and then fell...

Mike Tomlin Says WR Mike Wallace Is Rightfully Frustrated

"You know, Mike was frustrated on Sunday and rightfully so," said Tomlin. "He is not producing in the manner he would like to or we would like him to. It’s a function...

Tomlin in a No-Win Situation This Week

If Mike Tomlin were a Major League Baseball player he’d be in a slump of epic proportions. He’s not of course but his decision-making of late has been anything less than a home run let alone a base hit. From benching every running back that fumbled the football to his odd decisions to go for long field goals, call for fake field goals and go on fourth down at mid-field, Tomlin...

Perhaps Tomlin should just draw straws at Running Back this week

There were so many things that went wrong for the Steelers, in the week 12 loss to the Browns, not the least of which was the 6 fumbles (4 of them lost) by the running backs. No sense going back and reliving the 3 interceptions by Charlie Batch and the final fumble on the last drive of the game; but hey, who’s counting? For the last month or so Mike Tomlin has preached about going...

Goodbye Rashard Mendenhall and while you're at it, take Mike Wallace with you.The Steelers need a real running back whose not afraid to get hit and wont shoot his mouth off every few weeks on Twitter.  Your four injury plagued years have helped minimally while you continue to fumble your way back onto the bench.  Heading into yesterday's game, your offense had a plan to...

Steelers WR Mike Wallace, RB Rashard Mendenhall Take Lineup Shuffling In Stride

Mike Wallace and Rashard Mendenhall today reacted to their changing roles with the Steelers with a collective shrug. Wallace, the undisputed starter at split end since 2010 and a Pro Bowler in 2011, is listed only as a possible starter next to Emmanuel Sanders on the team's official depth chart. "I don't know, you have to ask Coach T," Wallace said about Mike...

Ben Roethlisberger Still Unlikely To Be Ready To Play Against Ravens

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday during his press conference that quarterback Ben Roethlisberger threw on Monday and that the door was still open for him to play Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens. While that sounds like a very optimistic outlook, Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported via Twitter on Tuesday after Tomlin talked to the media that...

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin was asked on Tuesday during his press conference about the Monday decision to place second-year tackle Marcus Gilbert on the injured reserve list and activation of rookie guard David DeCastro from the designated to return injured reserve list. Below are the initial week 12 offensive and defensive snap counts from the Pittsburgh Steelers 20-14 loss to the Cleveland Browns Sunday. Steelers coach Mike Tomlin didn't wait until his weekly news conference to send a message to a couple of players.
