The Detroit Lions booted disgruntled wide receiver Titus Young on Monday, and they’re prepared to make another move Tuesday, according to the Free Press’ Dave Birkett: Lions will release OG Stephen Peterman today, per a person familiar with the decision. Peterman started every game at RG the last 3 years — Dave Birkett (@davebirkett) February 5, 2013 Peterman was the weakest link among Detroit’s starting offensive linemen in 2012, and the Lions apparently will waste no time in moving forward with a new plan at the right guard spot for 2013. Just how bad was Peterman last season? According to @davebirkett Lions to release Stephan Peterman today. Gave up joint most combined sacks, hits and hurries of any guard in 2012 — Pro Football Focus (@PFF) February 5, 2013 The Lions could have a couple of intriguing options on their roster to replace Peterman in 2012. The first is Bill Nagy, whom the Lions claimed off waivers from Dallas last season; Nagy then spent the entire year on injured reserve. The other is Riley Reiff, who continues to improve and, if Detroit brings back Jeff Backus and Gosder Cherulis at tackle, may have won himself a spot in the lineup along the interior.
