Found November 29, 2012 on Waiting For Next Year:
Last night, yours truly and the young buck, Jacob Rosen, did a guest spot on More Sports and Les Levine for a solid hour. We ran the gambit of topics from Pat Shurmur to Mark Shapiro to Byron Scott to the Baseball Hall of Fame Voters. Since many of you aren’t Time Warner Cable subscribers or live elsewhere, we thought we would give you a couple of quick highlights from the evening’s festivities. Much thanks again go out great friend of WFNY Les Levine for having us on.

Shurmur: Solid Browns offensive line continues to be its biggest critic

The offensive line played together now for a long time. Offensive linemen have to work together and the longer they play together the smoother it goes. I think kind of adding John Greco to the mix there midway through the season has been good. John’s done a pretty good job for us and I think the challenge for them is just to continue. Although statistically there were some things...

Pat Shurmur: “We played a physical team and we found a way to finish.”

Are the Browns getting a reputation as a physical football team? We’ve heard all season after teams have played the Browns they seem to have more respect for what the team is building. Then we heard from the Ravens how much they didn’t enjoy having to tackle Trent Richardson. Against the Steelers the Browns were popping running backs left and right. They created turnovers. Some...

Byron Scott Thinks All The Cavs Except One Player Sucked Last Night

The Cleveland Cavaliers have a paltry 3-12 and Tuesday night’s loss to the Suns didn’t make matters any better. The only bright spot has been the Cavs center, who is having a fairly incredible season which is not going unnoticed by his coach. Byron opened his Tuesday presser with a simple and very true statement: “Andy Varejao was fantastic. Everybody else sucked tonight...

Schedule stinks, but Cavs must find a way

CLEVELAND -- The Cavaliers are entering dangerous territory, the kind that can cause a team to lose a grip on the buying public way too soon in a season. That's not a criticism. It's a harsh reality. The latest example came Tuesday, a 91-78 embarrassment against a Phoenix team that isn't very good. Did we mention the game was at home? Did we mention the Cavs blew...

Browns Expect To Have QB Brandon Weeden In Week 13

Browns head coach Pat Shurmur mentioned that he expects to have QB Brandon Weeden under center, despite the fact that he recently suffered a concussion, per Scott Petrak. Weeden has been cleared to practice, which is really a great sign, considering that a number of players require more time to be cleared following a concussion. Shurmur added that Colt McCoy will not receive extra...

NFL Report: Weeden cleared to practice, will start Sunday vs Raiders

Pat Shurmur said today that Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden, who suffered a concussion in Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers was cleared to practice and will start Sunday “barring any unforeseen setbacks”. Weeden described the concussion as his first, and added that it was “minor”. “I’m ready to rock and roll,” said the rookie. Weeden was courtside for...

Wild times for the Wild Thing

One month into the season, Anderson Varejao is All-Star worthy. "He's the best center in the NBA right now; by far the best in the Eastern Conference," said Cavaliers coach Byron Scott. Even if you don't entirely agree with Varejao's coach, it's hard to argue with the numbers. The 6-foot-11 wild man is averaging a career-high 14.5 points. He leads the...

While We’re Waiting… Defending Dion’s Defense?

While We’re Waiting serves as the early morning gathering of WFNY-esque information for your viewing pleasure. Have something you think we should see? Send it to our tips email at tips@waitingfornextyear.com. “Byron Scott has repeatedly talked about his struggles on defense, but I haven’t really noticed Waiters getting blown by very often. That’s because his problem isn’t...

Is Byron Scott Heading Down The Manny Acta Path?

Full disclosure, I am not an NBA guy. I often use the hashtag #NBAFree on twitter when discussing my love for the college game. I hope the Cavaliers do well, but I can’t say that I watch the games or intently read the articles the way I do with the Browns and the Indians. I simply see the tweets throughout the day, check out the boxscores, and move on. But I stayed informed. Last...

Suns ride strong defensive effort to win in Cleveland

CLEVELAND -- The Phoenix Suns, in the midst of their longest road trip of the season, stumbled Sunday in Philadelphia, but they rebounded in a big way Tuesday. The Suns rolled to a 91-78 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers before 13,687 at Quicken Loans Arena. "It was a grind-it-out kind of game," Suns coach Alvin Gentry said. "These guys (the Cavaliers) have...
