Cowboys tight end Jason Witten said Thursday that he was pleased with how quarterback Tony Romo "managed the game" in a win over Carolina.
"So much goes into it more than just how many touchdowns you throw. I think he's doing a good job of managing the game, getting in better situations and taking what the defense is giving us," Witten said. "When he does that, good things are happening to us. He's our leader, emotionally and physically out there on the field. I think any time he puts us in good positions like that, good things happen to us."
Witten was then asked if it's tough for Romo to just settle for just "managing the game" when he's shown that he can be a prolific passer.
"And he is, but I think there is a fine line there as a quarterback and accept that," Witten said. "His standards are really high and he understands a lot has to play into that, not just throwing those touchdowns or create so much like...
