Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow celebrates his 80-yard touchdown pass that beat the Steelers.

Tim Tebow says he started sprinting after Demaryius Thomas as the Broncos wide receiver raced down the field and scored the game-winning touchdown against the Steelers on Sunday night. Then, for the first time in his career, Tebow jumped into the stands.

“That was pretty exciting,” Tebow said during his weekly interview with KOA this morning. “That was a lot of fun.”

Tebow said he, Thomas, offensive coordinator Mike McCoy and quarterbacks coach Adam Gase went over the play, and discussed different looks the Steelers would give them, just before overtime.

“We got one of the looks that we were talking about,” Tebow said. “DT ran a heck of a route and caught it, and what a stiff-arm, and what a play.”

Both Pittsburgh safeties flew to the line of scrimmage on the play, opening up Thomas over the middle. It was something Tebow said he noticed all game.

“At times, they definitely played the run extremely heavy and wanted to stop it, and gave us some quick gains at times,” Tebow said. “They came up and played aggressive and gave us some shots over the top, which we were able to hit, which gave us some big plays. DT was huge in that, and (tight end) Daniel Fells came up with some great catches.”

Tebow added that the 29-23 overtime win would “definitely go down as a great memory for us.”

The Broncos face the top-seeded Patriots on Saturday. They opened as a 13.5-point underdog today.

“We’re going into a hostile environment,” Tebow said. “We’re going to play one of the best quarterbacks of all time, one of the best coaches of all time. That’s very exciting, what a challenge and opportunity it is.”
