Former New England Patriots linebacker Ted Johnson was teammates with Vince Wilfork in 2004, the year before he retired from football. The two defensive stand-outs won a Super Bowl together that season, but I’m going to go out on a limb and guess they were never really close friends. And if they were, they aren’t anymore. Johnson now works as a radio host for CBS Houston. On Friday morning, a caller asked him to name the player he played with that had the ugliest spouse during his time with the Patriots. Johnson seemed hesitant, but he went ahead and answered the question anyway. He probably should have left it alone. The Big Lead has the audio here. “You know what, I’ve got it,” Johnson said. “And this is a big, big man. This guy had his way with the Texans this year. He won’t hear this — Vince Wilfork.” Teddy may have already learned his first valuable lesson of working in radio — everyone hears everything. They may not be listening live, but sports bloggers like us make sure that anything worth hearing is heard. Such was the case with Johnson’s regrettable comment about Bianca Wilfork, which led to the following message on Twitter from Wilfork to Johnson. Wilfork and his wife are very involved with the Patriots’ charitable organizations and do a lot of work for the community, so New England fans would probably know who she is if they saw her. We’ve seen the mayor of Boston screw-up Wilfork’s name before while wearing his jersey, but that didn’t seem to bother the 325-pounder. Understandably, Johnson’s comment struck a nerve. Naturally, Johnson has already attempted to apologize: I just made a huge error in judgement and want to apologize to Vince and his wife for comments I made earlier today on a Houston radio show — Ted Johnson (@TedJ52) March 22, 2013 Vince and his family are outstanding people who I have admired since they arrived in NE.I learned a big lesson today and feel terrible. — Ted Johnson (@TedJ52) March 22, 2013 Just speculating here, but it’s probably too late for apologies. Everyone makes mistakes, but Johnson can’t take back what he said. Live and learn. • Hey Ted, your fly is open and your Johnson is showing and its talking.....
  • Wow...that is soooooooooo not right Ted.
  • She better looking than the guy Tom Brady is married to.
Boston Mayor's wife is a knock out!!
  • How unprofessional, nasty, immature and weak minded. Ted Johnson must be very insecure inside to charge such a rude comment about a man's wife. Personally, I think she's attractive and holds her own. She's classy, real, supports her partner 100% AND donates back to charities and the community. Damn! I'd rather see real than some plastic wanna-be that goes for these type of athletes to "get paid". Ted, you should be so ashamed of yourself and Bianca hun, don't worry about a thing! Gals like me support you all the way!!
  • It wasn't a nice thing to say and it's true she isn't a fashion model, but beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. But all that matters is that Vince loves her.
  • Well she is not my bag of tea...Just cause he is a GREAT player dosn't men his his wife is ok on the eyes....We all make these judgments day by day...
He seems to love her...We all are atracted to diferant strokes....
You like um skinny...He likes um bigger...
I just love um all if they are shapely...
R U Right or is he or me???
    The ancer is yes!!!
  • Well Teddy, your a Fine Example of what Concussions can DO! I Hope the NFL and Medical Community takes Note!
  • What a couple of idiots right from the caller who would ask such a stupid Question. To Ted " Blame it on the concussions " Johnson for answering such a dumb question and not just hanging up and saying next question. Again blame it on the concussions but if he was quick witted he would of said Tom Brady then we all would of had a good laugh, even Gizelle. Hell that might even of made Bill Smile for a minute.
  • Terrible comment: First of all Vince Wilfork is a great athlete and person. He has been married for some time and loves his wife. They have a relationship that most people wish they had. I would love to be a close friend of Vince and his family.
  • Bianca, I read your response. You are so sweet and right about what you wrote. I would rather have a real women like you. What you and vince have is everlasting. Ted is divorced because obviously he is perfect, right?? Ted was rehabbing because his life is perfect, right? Why couldnt Ted just have been smart enough to just decline answering such a dumb question to begin with? Ted showed he is former athelete that is dumb. Proper etuquette 101, You never talk badly about a person's family. How does he not know that. You know what?? Ted Johnson does knopw that, he just didnt care. Wants to make sure he gets invited back to whatever show he was on. Vince, please never talk to Ted Johnson or acknowledge him ever if you can. Thanks
