1. What would the Chicago Bears record have been with Josh McCown instead of Caleb Hanie? It’s a personnel decision like this that makes me question the Chicago Bears front office. McCown isn’t a superstar by any stretch, but he found open receivers and moved when he needed to do so. Considering he’s been a member of this team around four weeks, it shows what this blogger suspected about Hanie at training camp. He’s not very talented and takes too long to make decisions. And when rushed to do so, it’s not pretty. McCown played how a back-up quarterback should play. 2. I had the pleasure of seeing the Bears and Green Bay Packers in person. Aaron Rodgers is amazing. He makes unbelievable throws and doesn’t beat himself. It almost seems as if there’s no defenders on the field. If only Jay Cutler had those wide receivers. Not one of the Bears with the exception of Earl Bennett would even be on the Packers roster. Once again, a huge misstep by t...

Bears Game Day: McCown gets his chance

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Josh McCown said he didn't want to get too excited when asked about starting his first game Sunday for the Chicago Bears. Given the Bears' four-game losing streak and slim NFC playoff chances, it was hard to get excited about their chances of upsetting the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field.

10 observations on the Bears

AFTERNOON SPORTS CLUB: The Bears were in a no-win situation with Josh McCown, but it was their own fault. Whether he was as bad as Caleb Hanie or played like Jay Cutler, anything McCown did against the Packers on Sunday night was an indictment of the Bears’ ability to evaluate quarterbacks.

McCown taking it all in stride

Early Hibernation for Bears

Five straight defeats have put the Chicago Bears (7-8) out of the playoffs. The Bears lost to Green Bay 35-21 with a makeshift offense that gained 441 yards, and an improved passing game due to Josh McCown, the backup QB, who played well in defeat. Kurt’s Angle: Don’t expect Mike McCarthy to go anywhere anytime soon

During the Christmas edition of Sunday Night Football, the Green Bay Packers methodically dusted off the Chicago Bears 35-21. That shouldn’t have really been that difficult a job to start; as Ian Darke might say on Premier League Soccer, the Bears roster is currently loaded with a collection of ‘Poets, Passers, and Dreamers…’ That line would make absolutely no sense to this...

It was closer than it should have been for longer than it should have been, but it ended just as it should have as the Bears lost in Green Bay and ended their hopes for a playoff berth in fitting fashion.
