Found September 06, 2013 on The Football Fan Spot:
Tennessee Titans (0-0) at Pittsburgh Steelers (0-0) A lot of people are really down on the Steelers right now, but I like their chances to have a bounce back year, as teams normally do after a significant win decrease. Teams that decrease by 4 wins, on average, have a win increase of about 2 the following season. Sure, they’re getting older and they lost guys like James Harrison and Mike Wallace this off-season, but neither was what they once were last season. Harrison definitely showed his age and should be replaced easily by Jason Worilds and Jarvis Jones, while Wallace was not himself at all coming off an extended holdout. He caught just 55.2% of the passes thrown his way and averaged just 13.1 yards per catch. The Steelers should also have better injury luck, after having the 7th most injuries last season, according to adjusted games lost. Sure, they’re already without Le’Veon Bell and Heath Miller in this one, but they’re still in better shape than they were last season. Rememb...

So Far, So Good for Pittsburgh Steelers 2013 Draft Class

The Pittsburgh Steelers are expecting tangible contributions from their newest draft class as they embark on the 2013 season. That’s something that was missing in 2011 and 2012, when they followed a one-and-done playoff showing by missing the playoffs altogether. It’s still too early to really assess the Steelers’ 2013 draft. These guys need to play in real football games....

Tomlin unfollows released Steelers

Mike Tomlin is a no nonsense head coach and likes to keep things simple. Tomlin finally joined Twitter nation earlier this summer, and The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review notes that Tomlin follows a strict 53-man roster on Twitter. When the Steelers trimmed down their roster down from 75 players to 53 over the weekend, Tomlin also cut those players from his Twitter follow list. Most...

Antwon Blake Believes He Has Special Teams Position Flexibility

The Pittsburgh Steelers like as many of their players as possible to have position flexibility and defensive back Antwon Blake, who the team claimed off waivers Sunday from the Jacksonville Jaguars, believes that he has special teams position flexibility. "I have been told I have a knack for special teams and that is my niche in my career," Blake told Teresa Varley of Steelers...

Steelers Versus Titans Injury Report: FB Will Johnson Listed As Probable Friday

The Pittsburgh Steelers have now wrapped up their Friday practice as they prepare to take on the Tennessee Titans in their Sunday season opener at Heinz Field and the final injury report for the week has now been released. Rookie running back Le'Veon Bell (foot) did not practice again on Friday and has long been ruled out for the game Sunday. Isaac Redman will get the start at...

Cold Blooded: Mike Tomlin Unfollows the Cut Steeler Players

Mike Tomlin didn’t join all that long ago, but has already figured out how to use the Social Network in all it’s glory.  I will go through my Twitter feed sometimes and just start purging out these accounts that I am sick of seeing on my timeline.  Mike Tomlin did it to the players that the Steelers cut off the team!  It already sucks enough to be cut off a NFL team, but to...

RB Johnson: QB Locker can help Titans' run game

Chris Johnson looks around the Tennessee Titans and sees an untapped run threat. Not Shonn Greene, though he expects the running back to be a big help too. Try quarterback Jake Locker. Johnson said Thursday athletic quarterbacks have made teams like Carolina with Cam Newton, Washington with Robert Griffin III and Seattle with Russell Wilson difficult to defend. Colin Kaepernick...

The Story Of Guy Whimper

By Matthew Marczi With a few days now gone by since the final 53-man roster was first tallied and the Pittsburgh Steelers seemingly done making roster moves, it certainly appears that journeyman offensive lineman Guy Whimper is here to stay, at least for now. So what exactly does that mean for the 2013 season? As it currently stands, it should mean virtually nothing, barring injury...

Steelers Average Ticket Price Just Below League Average

According to research performed by TeamMarketing.com, the average ticket price for a Pittsburgh Steelers game is just below the league wide average. Surprisingly, the average ticket price for a Steelers game is $81.13 which is 41¢ less than the league average. When you consider what a big draw the Steelers are and that Heinz Field has one of the lowest seating capacities in the...

Tennessee Titans owner banks on making playoffs

Bud Adams opened his wallet. Now he wants the Titans in the playoffs. “I didn’t spend that money for nothing” he said with a chuckle on Thursday. The 90-year-old founder and owner of the franchise didn’t make any “playoffs or pink slips” ultimatums as he did before the 1999 season which ended with the Titans in the Super Bowl. But eight months after electing to keep...

A Game Of Firsts

By Matthew Marczi When the Pittsburgh Steelers take the field on Sunday to take on the Tennessee Titans in the season opener at Heinz Field, it will be a game of many firsts; indeed, far more than normal. With several new starters on both sides of the ball, the team will be fielding a lot of combinations that have never worked together in a regular season game before. Of course,...

Loss Of Will Johnson Could Result In More 12 Personnel Groupings Against Titans

The season is not getting off to a good start for Pittsburgh Steelers fullback Will Johnson, who will more than likely sit out the Sunday season opener at Heinz Field against the Tennessee Titans with a hamstring injury that he suffered in the preseason finale against the Carolina Panthers. With Will Johnson likely to be sidelined, the Steelers might very well use a fullback by committee...
