IntheOT:
The Houston Texans were handed a gift TD into today’s Thanksgiving matchup at Detroit that will probably go down as one of the worst calls by a referee this season. What makes the situation even worse is the play would have been overturned due to overwhelming evidence that Texans RB Justin Forsett was down on an automatic review for all touchdowns. However, Lions head coach Jim Schwartz got overly excited knowing how wrong the call was and pulled out his challenge flag. Problem is he didn’t realize it was against the rules to throw a challenge flag on a play that would be automatically reviewed no matter which is always the case with touchdowns. Not only did that eliminate the chance to have the play overturned it also cost the Lions a timeout and were assessed a 15 yard penalty.Below is a picture of how obvious it was Forsett was done along with the video..Watch this video on YouTube Embedded with WP YouTube Lyte.I am appalled at what happened on this play for many reasons. First off, the moron referee Walt Coleman who was atrocious all game long. Second off, Jim Schwartz being a putz not knowing the rules. Third off, the NFL rules lacking a ton of logic. My video rant explains it all…Watch this video on YouTube Embedded with WP YouTube Lyte.

Jim Schwartz threw a penalty flag too early and cost his team 7 points against the Houston Texans
Jim Schwartz, the head coach of the Detroit Lions, threw a penalty flag after this play by Houston Texan running back Forsett who was done after a 7 yard game. However, the officials let the play continue. If Schwartz wouldn’t have thrown that flag, the play actually would have been reviewable. Instead of a 7 yard gain, it turned into 7 points.
