Running back Arian Foster will become a restricted free agent on March 13, according to NFL Live. Foster, who emerged as an undrafted free agent from Tennessee, won the NFL rushing title in 2010 for the Houston Texans and is a priority for the cap-strapped team to try and lock up with a new long-term contract. Under the new rules of the collective bargaining agreement, teams can no longer tender RFAs at the first-and third-round compensation level, with a first-round pick being the most a team can get in return for losing a restricted free agent. That could mean that Foster will be one of a handful of restricted free agents who would be attractive to teams picking in the lower third or so of the first round, since the price of losing that pick would be far offset by being able to pluck one of the NFL's top running backs in his prime with an offer sheet the Texans might not be able to match.
