Yates, who played his high school football at Pope High in Marietta, led the Houston Texans to a 17-10 victory over the Atlanta Falcons before a crowd of 71,545 on Sunday at Reliant Stadium. Yates received ample help from a stout defense and running back Arian Foster, who became the first back to rush for more than 100 yards against the Falcons in 15 games. Yates, a 24-year old rookie, arguably out-played Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan, who was under duress for most of the game from Houston’s blitzing 3-4 defense. The Falcons’ hope were dashed when Houston defensive end Antonio Smith tipped a fourth down-and-7 pass with under three minutes to play in the game.
