You knew it had to be Texas. This past Friday night the Sharyland (Texas) Rattlers faced off against the Edinburgh North (Texas) Cougars at Rattler Stadium in a game in which the Rattlers handily defeated the Cougars 48-7 to run their season record to an impressive 10-0.  Speaking of impressive, Sharyland’s Sean Landez had himself one hell of a first quarter, as he returned a kick off 95 yards for a score, then one-upped himself when he returned an Edinburgh North 44-yard missed field goal from about as deep as possible in the end zone for an incredible 109.9 yard touchdown. Seriously, he was one gust of wind away from being blown out of bounds. Instead he balanced himself on his tiptoes, turned, and ran the entire length of the football field for the improbable TD.  Color me shocked if this doesn’t make it to every sports highlight’s shows “Plays of the Day” segment when it goes viral, which it will shortly. Is this the longest play in football history, outside of the CFL and their 110 yard field and crazy deep end zones?  Pretty sure it bests Antonio Cromartie’s 109 yard return of a missed field goal when he was with the Chargers, if only by the smallest of margins.
