Football Extra Points:
When the Oakland Raiders drafted
converted USC wide receiver David Ausberry in the 7th
round of the 2011 draft he looked like another Al Davis project.
Ausberry was sparingly used at USC and was not even invited to the
NFL combine but he ran a 4.48 40-yard dash which made him the fastest
tight end in that year’s draft class. During minicamps and training
camp former Raiders starting Quarterback Jason Campbell was raving
about the 6’4, 243 pound Ausberry because of his blazing speed and
athleticism. Unfortunately over the next two years Ausberry barely
touched the field because he had not picked up the nuances of the
tight end position. With the departure of Brandon Myers in free
agency it’s time for David Ausberry to finally show if he can be a
contributor in the NFL. There are 3 career paths that David Ausberry
can take and we will soon see if Ausberry will be the next Teyo
Johnson, Brandon Myers, or Marcel Reece.
Like Ausberry, Teyo Johnso...

The Oakland Raiders have announced that they’ve signed free agent safety Usama Young.
Young is a solid player that should be able to help the Raiders secondary. He recorded 53 tackles, 1.5 sacks and 3 interceptions last season.
Overall the Raiders haven’t improved their team that much. But that’s what happens when you don’t have a lot of cap room.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that free agent QB Seneca Wallace will travel to Oakland for a visit with the Raiders after meeting with the Seahawks on Monday.
Wallace is in consideration for the Seahawks backup quarterback job, but it appears as though the competition is really between Matt Leinart and Brady Quinn, although Tyler Thigpen has a shot at the job as well.
