The Best Reason not to Worry about Ohio State's Recruiting Class

So yesterday was national signing day, the big Buckeye news was that top prospect Seantrel Henderson chose USC over Ohio State (or maybe he didn't?), and by all accounts it was a down year for the Buckeyes and a down year for the Big Ten. Alex at Eleven Warriors reminds us that this isn't the first time that Jim Tressel has pulled "a middle-of-the-pack class" [ESPN ranks it 16th, Scout.com 20th, and Rivals.com 26th], and that this is the time of the year when we tend to overemphasize predictions of recruiting services and underemphasize the impact that a coaching staff as excellent as Tressel's can have on young football players.  "[T]he decision of three teenagers will soon be forgotten," he says. In support of this point, Darren Everson of the Wall Street Journal points out that "all of the teams that appeared in the past four national-title games had at least one recruiting class not in the top 10 during the preceding five years...
