Humble Steelers Rookie WR Markus Wheaton Knows He Has A Lot To Fix

Like many of you, I too believe that rookie wide receiver Markus Wheaton has the potential to develop into a great receiving threat for the Pittsburgh Steelers, as his college tape alone indicated that long before he was selected in the third-round of the 2013 NFL Draft. With that being said, Wheaton’s first preseason game [...] Humble Steelers Rookie WR Markus Wheaton Knows He...

Justin Cheadle’s Misfortune Could Create An Opportunity For Mike Golic Jr.

Pittsburgh Steelers unfdrafted offensive lineman Mike Golic Jr. didn’t receive any playing time on offense Saturday night in the preseason opener against the New York Giants as he was relegated to only playing three snaps on special teams.   LaRod Stephens-Howling running against the Giants (photo credit: Justin K. Aller) In their first preseason game of the season the Pittsburgh Steelers lost to the New York Giants, 18-13. Thankfully preseason games don’t really matter but we can still analyze and talk about the performance of the team. The Steelers had their starters on the field for two series and there were...

Steelers go down in first preseason game; the good and not so good

Courtesy of the Post Gazette. The first preseason game is as exciting as it can be depressing and irritating. It’s just par for the course in any year and this seasons version was no different. Before we started though I gotta say it’s nice to have my Steelers timeline on twitter in midseason form again after a  long offseason. There is nothing more crazy than the Steelers timeline...

Cameron Heyward Took Alameda Ta’amu Under His Wing During The Offseason

Pittsburgh Steelers second-year nose tackle Alameda Ta’amu had a good showing in the preseason opener against the New York Giants this past Saturday as he continues to try to show the organization that they didn’t waste a fourth-round draft pick on him. Steelers Kelvin Beachum Wasn’t The Center Of Attention Against The Giants

I was pretty sure that Pittsburgh Steelers second-year offensive linemen Kelvin Beachum would at least play two positions Saturday night against the New York Giants in the preseason opener and even wondered if he might play three. So how many positions did Beachum play? Just one, as he played 35 snaps Saturday night and all [...] Steelers Kelvin Beachum Wasn’t The Center Of Attention...

Matt Spaeth underwent Lisfranc surgery

Steelers head coach  Mike Tomlin was asked today if he had any updates on tight end Matt Spaeth who’s dealing with a Lisfranc injury. I do not. I know that he got a surgery performed. We’ve talked about potential timetables of his return but I haven’t been privy to that in the last 24 hours. I’ve been focused solely on the game. I’ll get that updated tomorrow and be able...

Ryan Clark: “We’re trying to implement the old Steeler way"

Coming on he heels of an 8-8 season the Steelers locker room has been disjointed and lack the cohesiveness has been apparent. From an anonymous teammate calling out LB LaMarr Woodley for being out of shape we may have caught sight of the tip of the iceberg that is the disarray of the Steelers locker room. Safety Ryan Clark used a very appropriate word. “Fractured.” That is very...

Looking back at the Pittsburgh Steelers first preseason game against the New York Giants, below are six things that really surprised me.
