PLAYERS: Matt Ryan
TEAMS: Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons started 8-0 behind Matt Ryan and the Falcons offense.  Is Ryan a legitimate MVP candidate? We've entered the second half of the season and talk of league MVP will start heating up. Here is a look at my MVP candidates by position: Quarterback: Payton Manning - Manning not only switched teams but came back from neck surgery that caused him to miss all of last season.  Not only have he installed his offense in Denver but he has established a rapport with the receivers and is sitting fifth in the league in passing yards.  I've been more impressed with what Manning has done here than his last several years in Indy. Drew Brees - Drew is leading the league in passing yards, that's not a surprise considering their offense.  Everything that the Saints have had to deal with this offseason has put 100% of the leadership load on Brees' shoulders.  The Saints defense is terrible and the only way they can win is if Drew throws for 400yds and 4 TD's.  Con...

Matt Ryan Suffers Through Nightmarish Outing vs. Arizona

Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan won't have fond memories from Sunday's game versus the Cardinals. He was picked off five times and didn't connect on a single touchdown pass.Fantasy Spin:Ryan did reach the 300 yard barrier, but that certainly doesn't make up for the five turnovers he committed. He'll have an opportunity to bounce back next week against Tampa Bay.

Falcons bounce back, edge Cardinals

ATLANTA -- On a miserable day, Matt Ryan came through when it counted for the Atlanta Falcons. Ryan overcame a career-worst five interceptions, guiding Atlanta to its only offensive touchdown in the fourth quarter, and the Falcons rallied from their first loss of the season for a sloppy 23-19 victory over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. The Falcons (9-1) turned it over a...

Falcons prevail despite Ryan's five picks

ATLANTA -- Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons were bad, but victorious once again. Ryan overcame a career-worst five interceptions to lead another fourth-quarter comeback in the Falcons' 23-19 victory over the reeling Arizona Cardinals on Sunday at the Georgia Dome. Ryan threw for 301 yards on 28-of-46 passing with the five picks. Jonathan Babineaux had a momentum-shifting...

NFL Midseason Impressions

Offensive MVP: Matt Ryan   The Boston College product is enjoying his best season to date posting career highs in completion percentage and quarterback rating. However the most significant indicator of his success is the fact that the Atlanta Falcons currently sit atop the NFC South sporting an impressive 8-1 record. Ryan has played well [...]

Arizona's offense fails to support D's big day

Coaches struggle with challenge flag

I subscribe to the theory that it's better to be lucky than good. But what if you're both? Say hello to the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons not only survived an uncharacteristic five-interception performance by quarterback Matt Ryan, but also a couple decisions by head coach Mike Smith in replay as Atlanta rallied to defeat Arizona 23-19 Sunday. As replay has become more...

Falcons 23, Cardinals 19

Falcons Beat Cardinals 23-19 in Another Circus-Ugly Win

The Falcons seemed ready to pack in the season this afternoon.  Playing at home against an Arizona Cardinals team on a five game losing streak seemed like a guaranteed win.  Matt Ryan threw a career high five interceptions (three off tips), with the Falcons turning the ball over a ridiculous six times.     Oh, and we have no run game.   The offensive...

Friday Blitz: 10 Thoughts on Atlanta

10 Things About The Atlanta Falcons We have a very, very, very good quarterback. In fact, It took me a while to get on the Matt Ryan train, but over the last couple of years I have watched him mature into a deadly field general. He will most likely win the MVP this season, and the media will begin to hop on the bandwagon.   Our defense NEEDS Sean Weatherspoon...

Arizona Cardinals at Atlanta Falcons: Three Bold Predictions

The Arizona Cardinals were on the decline going into their bye week, they had just lost five straight games and desperately needed a week off to regroup.  The Falcons on the other hand just suffered their first loss of the year to the hot New Orleans Saints.  If handled correctly, bye weeks can be a teams best friend in helping the players rest and recover, and giving the coaches...
