Tim Tebow, the center of attention during the NFL playoffs, stretches during practice on Wednesday.

Every day this week, we’ve run a new online Broncos poll in The Denver Post. We’ve asked fans about strategy, history and popularity. It’s been fascinating to watch.

The votes are in and the fans have spoken. Following is a review of the polls — and my interpretation of the results:

• Following the Broncos’ overtime stunner over the Steelers, we asked who was the game’s MVP? Champ Bailey was a candidate, as was Demaryius Thomas who had 204 yards receiving and caught the game-winning 80-yard touchdown.

But the clear winner was Tim Tebow. He garnered 64.3 percent of the 25,470 votes cast. This was a no-brainer, a softball, and the fans knocked it out of the park. After three bad games, Tebow got up off the mat, played a terrific game and threw the knockout punch that decked the mighty Steelers.

• The controversy of the week swirled around former Broncos coach Josh McDaniels rejoining the Patriots’ staff after he was canned as St. Louis’ offensive coordinator. According to our poll, fans think the move was a sham and shouldn’t have been allowed by the NFL. Of the 18,816 votes cast, 62 percent said McDaniels should not have been allowed to join the Patriots’ staff.

My thinking is that McDaniels won’t have much of an impact in Saturday’s game. I think the vote has more to do with Broncos fans’ venom toward McDaniels than anything else.

• Our history poll asked was the question: What was the biggest, most meaningful single play in Broncos history? John Elway’s famed “helicopter” in Super Bowl XXXII was the clear winner with 54.9 percent of the vote. Second place went to Tebow’s TD toss to Thomas (25.2 percent). Elway’s pass to Mark Jackson to end “The Drive” in the 1986 AFC Championship Game was a distant third (9.9 percent).

My perspective? Please, people have a little historical perspective. The Drive is considered one of the greatest moments in NFL history. It sent the Broncos to a Super Bowl. It was the launching pad for Elway’s greatness. Maybe, someday, will look back on Tebow-to-Thomas as the birthplace of Tebow’s greatness, but for now, there’s no way it should be No. 2 on the list.

• Our pop culture question of the week asked: Whose life would you rather live: Patriots QB Tom Brady’s or Broncos QB Tim Tebow’s? The question drew nearly 9,000 responses.

Tebow, described as a “Heisman Trophy winner, two-time college national champ, inspiring role model with bright future, made about $7 million this season,” won with 55.5 percent of the vote. Brad, described as a “three-time Super Bowl champ, surefire Hall of Famer, married to a supermodel, contract worth $18 million a year,” got 45.5 percent.

My gut reaction? Come on Broncos fans, would you really pick Tebow’s life over Brady’s? Really and truly?

• We posted an Xs-and-Os question this week, too, asking what the Broncos’ No. 1 objective should be in trying to slow down the Patriots’ offense this week. After 7,657 votes were cast it was clear what fans would do if they were wearing the headset. According to our poll, the No. 1 objective should be to pressure Brady and take him out of his comfort zone (54.1 percent). The strategy of using ball-control offense to keep Brady off the field was second (35.4).

I think the voters got it right. I think the key to the game is knocking Brady around and forcing him to throw a a pick or two.

• Finally, our current polls asks, “Which head coach gives his team the biggest edge in Saturday’s Broncos-Patriots playoff game?”

The Patriots’ Bill Belichick got 55.4 percent of the vote, compared to 44.6 for the Broncos’ John Fox.

This didn’t surprise me at all. Even those wearing orange-colored glasses have to give Belichick the edge here. He’s won three Super Bowls, including one over Fox’s Carolina Panthers.

Now, if this was a personality contest, Fox would win hands down over New England’s grim-faced hooded one.
