It's time that I fully address my feelings on Justin Blackmon's recent DUI arrest. First and foremost I want to say that my opinion is just that, an opinion, and taking it for anything more than that is doing yourself a disservice as well as myself. Seriously, take it as one person's view and nothing more.

DUIs are no small matter, and the fact that this isn't Blackmon's first run-in involving alcohol and vehicles is somewhat disturbing. This isn't the type of minor crime that we all shake our heads and move on with our days. No, DUIs are very serious, and too often we hear about the consequences of those types of choices on the morning news. Almost without a doubt, someone reading this has had his or her life altered by a DUI.

All that being said, I'm encouraged by Blackmon's response as well as the Jaguars' response. He's not hiding under a rock and hoping this thing blows over. He knows what he did is wrong, and I'm hopeful that he realizes such actions can't be allowed to take place. This is a young man with a bright future in the NFL. It would be a shame to see him throw all his talent away on something so stupid. I have no problem with alcohol. I have a problem with some of the decisions people make when they're not sober. Let's hope Blackmon makes better decisions next time. Actions speak louder than words. The ball's in Justin Blackmon's court now.
