We told you last night that Patriots center Dan Koppen suffered a broken ankle at the end of the second quarter. He left on a cart, returned wearing a boot and seemed to be in good spirits. What’s the latest? The best-case scenario would be that Koppen had a clean break (as opposed to something nasty like a spiral fracture). He’s undergoing an MRI today to find out the nature of the break and see if there is any structural damage around it. Koppen will likely need some sort of surgery to stabilize the bone and get it in a cast and make sure it fuses properly. It will all help him return as quickly as possible. And a return is possible. If all goes as everyone hopes, Koppen could come back this season. By Week 10, maybe? Week 12? The playoffs? (more…)
