The Rap Sheet:
The Patriots are trimming their roster with an eye toward today’s 4 p.m. roster cut-down deadline. They need to get to 80 players, and they took a big step yesterday.
There was more today.
The Patriots announced that they’ve released DE/OLB Marques Murrell and undrafted free agent from Cal receiver Jeremy Ross. Murrell was signed at the end of last year and hung around until now. Ross was a special teams maven in college who couldn’t cut it at receiver.
Oh, and the Pats made official the signing of former Jets snapper James Dearth, which we told you about yesterday. And now, the Pats are down to the roster limit of 80 players by the 4 p.m. deadline.
