It might be very easy for Buffalo Bills fans to forget the 2012 season opener against the New York Jets.

Buffalo lost 48 to 28 in a tough match at MetLife Stadium.

While Buffalo may have made the game look respectable on paper, they turned in an overall poor performance. Starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick was picked off three times, and the defense had trouble stopping New York’s running and passing game.

But the biggest blow to the season may have been an injury to running back Fred Jackson. Jackson was running towards the end of the first half when he was hit by New York’s LaRon Landry. He stayed on the field for several minutes while being attended to by trainers before heading to the locker room. After the game, it wasn't known what type of injury Jackson had or if it was severe.

In his place, running back C.J. Spiller had a good game, rushing for 169 yards and a touchdown. However, Spiller also fumbled, which resulted in a New York field goal.

New York also victimized Buffalo's special teams, and returned a punt for a touchdown

While the first half of the game featured a dormant Buffalo offense, the team put together touchdown drives late in the third quarter and halfway through the fourth quarter. Fitzpatrick was able to find tight end Scott Chandler and wide receiver Donald Jones for the scores.

Wide receiver Stevie Johnson, who was questionable to play in the game, did play. He four receptions for 55 yards and a touchdown.

Wide receiver David Nelson also left the game in the fourth quarter with a knee injury.

Buffalo plays the Kansas City Chiefs at 1 p.m. next Sunday at Ralph Wilson Stadium.
