It wasn’t until late in the fourth quarter of their Thursday night game against the 1-13 Colts that the Houston Texans were able to complete a conversion on third down, having gone 0-8 despite leading Indy 13-12. The Texans were finally able to nail that elusive third down conversion in pretty well the most unconventional way possible.
Facing a 3rd and 5 from the Colts’ 31-yard-line, Houston QB T.J. Yates tries hitting TE Kevin Walter across the middle with a short pass, only Indy safety Antoine Bethea gets there about the same time as the ball and jars the ball loose as he hits Walter. The ball, in midair mind you, then bounces off Bethea’s shoulder, and into the hands of Houston WR Jacoby Jones who finishes off the play by gaining 10-yards the hard way, as well as the Texans’ first first down of the game.
Exactly how they drew it up.
As incredibly lucky a play as that was, it wasn’t quite as entertaining as Peyton Manning’s reaction to Jacoby&...

The stars are aligning for Andrew Luck and Peyton Manning to be able to dictate terms to the Colts to ensure their individual and mutual interests are addressed due to the likelihood that they'll be represented by the same agency:
The plan between Peyton and Andrew, if there is one, remains unknown. Peyton could try to force his way out of Indianapolis, for example by refusing...
The Peyton Manning Conundrum
It’s hard to fathom the thought that Peyton Manning may be wearing a different uniform that a Colts blue one on opening day 2012. But it’s beginning to sound more and more like it just might happen.
There were never any doubts that the Colts would have a down year when the truth of the severity of Manning’s injury came to light in early September. But I don’...

Indianapolis Colts owner says QB Peyton Manning staying
It doesn't look as if Peyton Manning will go anywhere next season -- unless he's not healthy. On Thursday, Colts owner Jim Irsay told NFL Network he couldn't foresee a scenario in which Manning would play anywhere but Indianapolis unless he can't play at all.
Houston not robbed
All morning I listened to talk radio callers claiming Houston was robbed by officiating. Chris Baldwin of CultureMap Houston claims the Texans were victims and jokingly suggests it's karma for hitting the Manning lottery in 1998:
After all, it'd be easy to see the powers that be deciding that adding Luck to follow Peyton Manning is just too much good fortune for any one...
Ticker: Tebow gets a yeah; Peyton Manning just a maybe
Peyton Manning and Tim Tebow -- now, who got a vote of confidence and who didn't? "Tim Tebow's not going anywhere," John Elway told the Associated Press. "I mean, he's going to be a Bronco and we're going to do everything we can and hopefully he's that guy."

Newton sets NFL single-season rookie passing mark
Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton broke Peyton Manning's single-season rookie record for most passing yards on Saturday.
The top overall pick of the 2011 draft, Newton moved past Manning after completing a 7-yard pass to Brandon LaFell on the team's first drive against the NFC South rival Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Newton only needed 18 yards to break Manning's record...
Is Tim Tebow the Best-Worst Player or The Worst-Best Player?
There are many narratives this year in the NFL. Which is no different from any other year. There’s always one main story the networks slam down the throats of their viewers and since there is no Brett Favre in 2011 to help shoulder the load, it seems like the narratives are lasting longer and taking up more time for the talking heads. Tim Tebow, unfortunately, is this years Brett...
Colts Win Puts Draft-Obsessed Fans In Their Place
Last night the Indianapolis Colts took Andrew Luck’s name out of everyone’s mouth for just a minute. They came back in the fourth quarter (in an admittedly horribly officiated game) to beat the Houston Texans 19-16. That ties the Colts in the win column with the St. Louis Rams and Minnesota Vikings at two.
For most of this season everyone has associated Andrew Luck...
