Found April 03, 2012 on Larry Brown Sports:
The Detroit Lions have impressively hit on almost all of their draft picks last year. The Lions only made five selections in the 2011 draft and, incredibly, three of the players have been arrested for marijuana possession since their rookie season ended. First-round pick defensive tackle Nick Fairley (pictured at left) was spotted speeding in Mobile, Ala., Tuesday and was pulled over where marijuana was found in his possession. He was charged with a misdemeanor. Second-round pick running back Mikel Leshoure missed his arraignment Monday for a marijuana possession charge. Leshoure was pulled over March 12 because the car he was riding in didn’t signal a lane change. The car apparently reeked of weed, and an officer saw Leshoure cramming the herb into his mouth. He was also arrested on Feb. 18 for marijuana possession. Seventh-round pick offensive tackle Johnny Culbreath (pictured at right) was arrested at a hotel in South Carolina for marijuana possession on January 25. He paid a...

Can the Detroit Lions stay out of trouble?

Stephon Gilmore will have to wait.  The article I had planned to write about the star corner from South Carolina who has become a potential target for the Detroit Lions has been pushed aside for now. Why?  Because the Lions can’t seem to stay out of trouble. Within just two weeks of each other, two soon-to-be second year Lions were arrested for possession of marijuana. The players...

Leshoure finds trouble on and off the field

A year ago this month, Mikel Leshoure was selected in the second round of the NFL draft by the Detroit Lions. There were high hopes for the 6-foot, 227-pound running back, but not much has gone right for Leshoure since that day. He was scheduled to be arraigned in Berrien County (Mich.) for a second possession-of-marijuana offense in less than a month. The first came on Feb. 18...

Mikel Leshoure banged on marijuana possession, doesn’t show up for arraignment

Mike Leshoure’s NFL career consists of one torn Achilles tendon, two marijuana possession charges, one missed arraignment and ZERO carries.  A 2011 second-round pick out of Illinois, Leshoure tore his Achilles tendon before preseason games began last season.  His bruising running style was sorely missed in a weak Lions running game last season.  Big things were expected, but...

Lions RB Leshoure a no-show in court

Detroit Lions running back Mikel Leshoure failed to show up in court Monday for his arraignment on a charge of marijuana possession. Leshoure could face contempt of court charges, according to a Berrien County (Mich.) prosecutor. The second-year running back was cited for marijuana possession twice in a two-week period. He was arrested on March 12 when a police officer spotted...

Report: Lions' Fairley arrested on marijuana charges

On Tuesday, defensive lineman Nick Fairley became the third Detroit Lions player in the last three months to be arrested for marijuana possession. Fairley's arrest for a second-degree marijuana possession charge took place Tuesday afternoon in his hometown of Mobile...

Detroit Lions RB Mikel Leshoure Tries To Eat Weed During Stop, Arrested

The Detroit Lions have found their new Charles Rogers. The former first-round draft pick was long on potential, stupidity and arrests and short on production. The guy getting ready to take Rogers place in Lions’ lore is running back Mikel Leshoure. Last year’s second-round pick has racked up two marijuana charges since February. Today, he didn’t show up for court and a warrant...

Nick Fairley Heads Trio of Detroit Lions Charged With Marijuana Possession

Detroit Lions Running Backs: Last Man Standing

The running back position. It is easily the Lions' most unstable position given the talent on staff. Expect this instability to have effects on how the Lions approach the upcoming draft. It is true that reports are encouraging that Mikel Leshoure is on track, even ahead of schedule, to return from a devastating Achilles injury. Kevin Smith has been resigned. Jahvid Best is...

Detroit Lions: Time For An Intervention

So... Has anyone thought of introducing a 28 game season? How about an extra 10 preseason games? Or maybe a mandatory off-season training program that runs from February to August? This is not due to a desperate need for content. Its not an attempt to improve the quality of play, either. No, apparently, some of the younger members of the Detroit Lions have too much time on their...
