It looks like coach Jeff Fishers search for a new defensive coordinator has reached the finish line, Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. It was nearly seven weeks in the making, but all signs point to Detroit Lions assistant coach Tim Walton getting the job, according to multiple league sources, Walton was offered the job Tuesday, accepted it, and the deal could be finalized by the end of the week.
Walton was among three candidates interviewed by Fisher over the past week and a half, the others were Dick Jauron, the former defensive coordinator of the Cleveland Browns, and Mike Singletary, who has the title of special assistant to the head coach/linebackers with the Minnesota Vikings.
Walton, 41, is considered an up-and-comer in the NFL coaching ranks. He has a good reputation in Detroit, even with the Lions overall struggles last season, and in particular is known for developing defensive backs.

Titus Young on the cover of the Lions’ 2013 calendar
The Detroit Lions released wide receiver Titus Young just last week, but it looks like it was after their 2013 team calendar was put together. As you can see from the picture above, Young is on the cover of this year’s calendar.
This is really bad, the Lions should retract these calendars and place someone else on the cover.

Eric Fisher ‘Solidly in the Top 10′ for 2013 NFL Draft, Per Mel Kiper
Eric Fisher, the dynamite offensive tackle out of Central Michigan, might wind up on the Detroit Lions’ radar at No. 5 overall, especially if the team loses both Jeff Backus (retirement) and Gosder Cherulis (free agency).
And, if ESPN draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. has his finger on the pulse, using the fifth pick on Fisher might not be much of a stretch.
Kiper said Eric Fisher of...
Detroit Lions Might Be In The Market For a New Kicker
There isn’t much a Detroit Lions fan can be proud of over the last decade of Lions football. With the exception of their 2011 post-season appearance, the Lions haven’t been to involved in playoff chatter since the 90′s when they were a part of the NFC Central — and accumulated six of the 15 playoff appearances.
However one mainstay for the Lions over the years has been...
