Have you ever heard of the old quote, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it?” Well, when applied to fantasy football, it’s best to go with what works. And in this case it’s not to draft risky players when there are similar-tiered, safer options at a particular position. Now by no means am I a “play it safe” all the time type of fantasy owner. I LOVE upside, and I love taking chances on fliers that have high upside that are available in the middle and end of fantasy drafts.By solidifying the core of your team first and not drafting a squad of injury-prone players, you will be in a better position to have a consistent, playoff-caliber roster.Let me give you an example of what I mean by “risky fantasy roster".QB: Robert Griffin IIIRB: Arian FosterRB: Darren McFaddenRB/WR: Ryan MathewsWR: Hakeem NicksWR: Danny AmendolaMany of you are thinking, “wow! Where do I sign up for this roster?” While the sheer talent if this roster is through the roof, this roster is one of the most injury-prone ones I could think of. There is no doubt the upside on this roster is tremendous, but I hope most of you wouldn’t touch this roster with a ten-foot pole. This roster WILL have MULTIPLE guys miss games this season. Period. Amendola is a great talent who, if healthy, can have a top 10 WR season. But he hasn’t played more than 10 full games in his NFL career. I understand he is a PPR “god among men,” but please consider the extremely high risk here. It’s ok to pick a guy that you truly believe in. For instance, I think Robert Griffin III is an absolutely unreal talent who I am drafting in any league I can get him in (if he falls lower than his projection). It can be argued that he would have been a second-rounder behind Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees if he didn’t have his knee injury last year.I know you’re saying, “but he DID have a knee injury.” Well, he appears to be a 100 percent go for Week 1 and on top of that I just have a hunch and believe in the guy’s ability. I mean, how many of you saw that ESPN special on him in the weight room with his rehab? Again. To each his own, but I just believe in the guy. When is comes down to your draft and the decisions you make, I am just suggesting to consider these red flags because, these key risk decisions, in the earlier rounds especially, can absolutely RUIN a league for you. Analyze what’s available and don’t take outlandish chances when not necessary. Save the chances to the fliers and “low risk, high reward” guys at the end of you draft.Risk Players:Quarterbacks: Robert Griffin IIIRunning Backs: Arian Foster, Reggie Bush, Darren McFadden, DeMarco Murray, Ahmad Bradshaw, Montee Ball, Ryan Mathews, Rashard Mendenhall,  Chris Ivory.Wide Receivers: Danny Amendola, Hakeem Nicks,  Greg Jennings, Jordy Nelson
