William Hayes said he plans to play in the regular-season opener. Hayes, a starter at defensive end for the Tennessee Titans, told Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean he expects to return from a sprained medial collateral ligament in time for the regular-season opener against Oakland September 12. Hayes said he might even return sooner. "I'm making progress, definitely ahead of schedule," Hayes said. "They've done a great job treating me. I'll be back by the (opener), and my goal is to be back by last preseason game." Hayes told Wyatt the swelling in his knee has gone down, and that he jogged for the first time on Thursday.
