Titans rookie safety Markelle Martin did not pass his physical today and was placed on the physically unable to perform list. Martin injured his knee prior to the NFL Combine earlier this year and it has continued to bother him. Martin can come off PUP as soon as he passes his physical. He’s expected to return at some point in training camp. He still counts against the Titans’ training-camp roster while he’s on PUP.

Titans place WR Kenny Britt, S Martin on PUP list

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- The Tennessee Titans have placed Kenny Britt on the physically unable to perform list as the receiver recovers from his third surgery on his knees within the past 10 months. The Titans also placed rookie safety Markelle Martin on the list Wednesday. Both can practice once they pass a physical. Tennessee reports for training camp Friday, and Britt's...

Tennessee Titans: 3 Questions Heading into Training Camp

The Tennessee Titans sit at a crossroads entering the new season. The team enjoyed a surprising amount of success under first-year head coach and Oilers/Titans great Mike Munchak. A renaissance year from Matt Hasselbeck overshadowed a throwaway year for Chris Johnson, no longer the CJ2K of the past.   After narrowly missing the playoffs with a 9-7 record, do the Titans trot the...

Titans RB Chris Johnson Will Be an Elite Fantasy Option in 2012

All Personal Vendetta’s aside, Chris Johnson will be a top fantasy option in 2012. The 2011 season was not a great one for Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson. Despite the fact that he got a rich new contract after a lengthy holdout last offseason, Johnson ran with little enthusiasm or effort to start the season causing some to give up on him, myself included...

Akeem Ayers to line up as a pass rusher regularly for Titans

According to the Nashville Tennessean, Titans linebacker Akeem Ayers will line up as a pass rusher regularly this season. The 2011 2nd round pick has spent the offseason working out with pass rush technique specialist Keith Millard. At 6-3 254, with good athleticism, he has all the tools to be a pass rusher and was noted for his above average blitzing ability coming out of UCLA last...

Titans feel prepared for camp with full offseason

The Tennessee Titans believe they already have a big advantage heading into their second training camp with coach Mike Munchak. This time around, they actually had an offseason together. ''A year ago, we didn't know what Chris Johnson was,'' offensive coordinator Chris Palmer said. ''We didn't know what Kenny Britt was. We didn't know if Matt...

Britt's stock continues to fall

The word "if" is a concept utilized often in sports dissertation. If Bob Sanders could stay healthy, he'd be one of the best safeties in NFL history. If Tony Romo could improve his pocket administration, the Cowboys would be a perennial Super Bowl contender. If Kenny Britt could just stay out of trouble... Unfortunately, most "if" abstractions are rarely...

Matt Hasselbeck Opens Camp as Starter

Matt Hasselbeck opened training camp as Tennessee's starting quarterback, according to their official team website. Fantasy Spin: The veteran will see fierce competition from second-year pro Jake Locker though, and the strong-armed and athletic Washington product would hold far more fantasy upside if he ultimately overtakes Hasselbeck for the job.

On Akeem Ayers, part one

I noted earlier in the offseason I wanted to take a more in-depth look at the play of linebacker Akeem Ayers. This was for a couple reasons.First, he's a traditional strongside linebacker. I've had NFL Sunday Ticket only since 2006, and in that time the Titans had never really employed a true strongside linebacker. I know some about the position, of course, but following...

Titans Still Haven't Finalized A Deal With WR Kendall Wright

The Tennessee Titans and first-round pick Kendall Wright still have not come to an agreement on the receiver's rookie contract because of a couple of sticking points. The first deals with off-set language the Titans would like included in the deal, according to TitanInsider.com. The second barrier is that the sides remain apart on guaranteed money in the fourth year of the contract...

Titans Workout Free Agent QB Kyle Boller

The Tennessee Titans worked out veteran quarterback Kyle Boller on Tuesday. The Titans have Matt Hasselbeck and Jake Locker at the top with third-year pro Rusty Smith and undrafted rookie Nick Stephens on the roster as well. Chances are, the Titans are simply looking around to see if either player fits a need, upgrades them in any way or could be part of an emergency list if an injury...

More on Kamerion Wimbley's potential role in the defense

After yesterday's post looking in more depth at Kamerion Wimbley's personal attributes as a pass rusher, it's worth spending some time looking at how he might fit in the defense. With Jerry Gray's comments that he spent much of 2011 running mostly a Chuck Cecil defense, it's tough to say exactly what Gray will do. We can look at old materials, but we don't...

Titans place Kenny Britt on the PUP list

Getty Images According to John Glennon of The Tennessean, the Titans have placed wide receiver Kenny Britt on the PUP list while he continues to recover from offseason surgery on his knee. Once Britt is able to pass a physical he’ll be allowed to practice.

Titans Notebook: RB Johnson sets lofty goal

Running back Chris Johnson said his goal is to rush for at least 2,000 yards, which he accomplished in 2009. Said Johnson, "I feel like a lot of people have written me off. I still went over 1,000 yards (last season) but it wasn't a CJ2K year. So a lot of people are going to write me off. ... I want to be the first one to do it twice, that's certainly a goal of mine...

On Akeem Ayers, part two

I started with Akeem Ayers yesterday, writing about why I wanted to write about him and giving a bit of an in-depth look at his play in the Week 12 game against the Buccaneers. For this post, I also watched in detail his performance against the Broncos in Week 3 and his day against the Jaguars in Week 16.In those two games, I saw the same general mix of good and bad. Neither the...
