The Titans plan to keep the 37-year-old veteran for the final year of his contract, general manager Ruston Webster said on Friday. Coach Mike Munchak selected Locker over Hasselbeck to be the starter in 2012, but the Titans still like Hasselbeck as a security blanket. Locker missed five midseason games because of a dislocated left (non-throwing) shoulder that he underwent surgery on Wednesday for. “Matt is just a good guy to have on the team, a good guy for Jake, for me, for Munch,” Webster said. “So I would expect him to be back.” At the end of the season, Hasselback said he wanted to return and finish out his three-year, $20 million contract. But with Hasselbeck scheduled to make $5.5 million — and count $7.5 million against the salary cap — there’s been speculation that the Titans might let him go. Source: The Tennessean

2012 Tennessee Titans Biggest Disappointment: Jake Locker

The flip side to my recent pick of Derrick Morgan the biggest surprise for the Titans in 2012 is picking the biggest disappointment. While Morgan wasn't the only player I considered for that honor, after a 6-10 season following up 2011's 7-9 mark, the disappointment field is sadly a competitive one. The problem with picking a disappointment (and also a surprise) is that...

Jim Wyatt of the Nashville Tennessean writes that the Titans are “very much interested” in re-signing TE Jared Cook this offseason. He’s been lukewarm regarding the idea of returning to Tennessee next season and the...

Field position and the Titans' offense in 2012, final

I ran some of these numbers after Chris Palmer was fired, but with the season concluded, it's time to take a final look at how field position affected the Titans' offensive performance in 2012. I may have said this before on this site, once or twice, in some detail, but the Titans weren't very good on offense in 2012. As the numbers will show, they struggled to move...

Kenny Britt Not Talking After Brother’s Stabbing

The off-season has barely started for some NFL players and we’re already hearing about legal troubles. The latest involves Tennessee Titans wide receiver Kenny Britt. It should come as no shocker considering how many times his name has been in the police blotter over the past few years. This time, Britt is adhering to the “no snitching” code of the streets.
