The dream of making an NFL roster is ending for hundreds of football players this week and next. Teams are making their cuts to eventually get down to the roster maximum of 53 players. Sure, some will catch on to the practice squad, and might fill a spot somewhere else if there are injuries, but most are going to be finding something else to do. One certainly cannot fault any of them for wanting to play football in the NFL just because that’s what they love to do, but Toney Clemons, who is inching closer to return to the Jacksonville Jaguars has an entirely different and deeper reason to keep it going. Clemons, a 7th-round pick a year ago, is likely to make the team, and if you were to ask him what his motivation was, you might get a little teary-eyed. His three-year-old niece, Maiyanna, was diagnosed with a terrible form of cancer earlier this summer, Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma, or DIPG.
