Redskins-owner-snyder
Daniel Snyder needs to wake up. The owner of the Washington “Delightful Chums we had a tendency to oppress” doesn’t see name as even a remote possibility. SI’s Peter King on the Washington D.C. NFL name controversy and team owner Daniel Snyder: “I’m told he’s resolute. He will not change the name.” NBC Analyst Tony Dungy last night: “I hope Daniel Snyder does reconsider and change it. The nickname is offensive to Native Americans. In 2013, we need to get that name changed.” Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio: “I’m told there will be no discussion of the team’s name at the ownership meetings, either now or at any point in the future. If this ever goes down, I’m told to expect Commissioner Roger Goodell and a handful of select owners to approach Daniel Snyder privately.” Dan Patrick: “We’ve seen a lot of colleges back away from it, but it’s different with Daniel Snyder.” Dungy: “It is, but we need to do that. I hope Daniel Snyder changes his mind.” You’ll notice that

  • I have been a Redskins fan for about 60+ yrs and am begining to get a nasty taste in my mouth about the name. The old saying; if you KNOW better, you DO better. If you know that a significant number of Native Americans ARE offended, why NOT stop using the name. If I call you a name that you tell me is offensive, it is not MY place to tell you, "no it's not" and continue to call you something that offends you. In my opinion Mr Snyder, you know the RIGHT thing to do is "squash" your ego and lets do this thing... SO WE CAN PLAY BALL!

President weighs in on Redskins flap

When the President of the United States talks, the Redskins cover their ears. President Obama said Friday the team should think about changing its nickname. Moments later, Dan Snyder probably sent out a memo instructing employees, players, fans and the mascot to cover their ears. Maybe that will make all the noise go away. Remember, this is the guy who told USA Today he would never...

Barack Obama Says If He Were Dan Snyder He’d Think About Changing Redskins Name (Video)

Dan Snyder is adamant that he’s never going to change the Washington Redskins’ name — even using all CAPS to get his point across. Well, if nothing else, maybe a call from the President of the United States could change his mind. Barack Obama recently said that if he were the owner of the Redskins that he would ”think about changing” the team’s name because of the ...

More fans need to stand up for the Redskins team name

Hog Heaven has referred to Daniel Snyder as "Mr. Snyder" since that great day when Mike Shanahan pulled off the deal with the Rams that landed us Robert Griffin III.  I am positively warming up to the man since he took his stand on the team name.   The chutzpah that so infuriated fans in the early 'Aughts is a delight now as long as he stands his ground...

Tony Dungy passes on USC coaching job

Tony Dungy, who coached the Indianapolis Colts to a Super Bowl title, said Monday he was contacted regarding USC's coaching job but that he had no interest in the position. Dungy, appearing on "The Dan Patrick Show," was asked if USC had called him. "They haven't but, as they say, representatives of the organization have called," Dungy said. "Your...

Actress Olivia Wilde thinks Redskins have already changed name

Olivia Wilde is a well known actress from the hit television show “House.” Apparently she is also a huge Redskins fan. Unfortunately, she is a bit off on her news on the whole Redskins derogatory name change subject. She went to twitter to say:   Glad to hear my hometown DC has now decided to change the name of their football team, after I spent my childhood cheering a racial...

President Obama thinks Dan Snyder should consider changing the Redskins’ name

President Obama publicly stated in an interview that he suggests that Redskins owner Dan Snyder should think about changing the team’s name (courtesy of Peter Ferrara) Just when you thought the debate over changing the name of the Washington Redskins was over, a new name with some pretty big ties decides to throw his two cents into the discussion. Yes, President Barack Obama has...

Why the Washington Redskins Should Change Their Name

The Redskins have even gotten President Obama's attention when it comes to their name change.Although most Redskins fans are against the name-change, here are some reasons why it might be a good thing: 1. Nothing to lose: This team has not been to a Super Bowl in over 20 years. Karma or just plain turning the page on futility might change their luck around. What was once a good...

USC Says Impersonators Have Been Making Calls About Coaching Vacancy, Contacted Tony Dungy

LOS ANGELES — Apparently even people who don’t work for Southern California are trying to hire the Trojans’ next football coach. USC athletic director Pat Haden said Monday that two people pretending to be representatives of his school have contacted two coaches and attempted to discuss the Trojans’ coaching vacancy with them. USC has identified the posers and is taking “appropriate...

Are USC fans catfishing football coaches?

The search for a new head coach at USC figures to be a high profile one, and one that everyone will want to have a say in. Apparently that can be taken figuratively. USC was put in an awkward situation Monday that had the school release a statement announcing that some individuals have been contacting potential coaching candidates falsely representing the university in the process...

USC reaching out to Tony Dungy could signal a change in philosophy for Pat Haden

Tony Dungy joined the Dan Patrick Show on Monday and revealed that USC had reached out to his people to gauge his interest in taking their open coaching job. Predictably, Dungy has zero interest in taking the job, but that’s not the story here. The real story here is that a school that has the history and resources of USC to lure almost any coach they want would be content with...

USC Claims Fake Representatives Are Reaching Out To Prospective Coaches

Earlier this morning, former Super Bowl winning coach Tony Dungy went on The Dan Patrick Show and claimed that USC’s “people” had contacted him about potentially coming aboard to coach the Trojans. Now we’re hearing from the school that it apparently wasn’t a real USC rep – check this out: USC has been alerted that individuals posing as USC representatives made overtures...

USC Says They Never Authorized Anyone to Contact Del Rio or Dungy

We’ve heard reports that USC contacted both Jack Del Rio and Tony Dungy for the open head coaching position over the football team. However, it seems this may have been some sort of catfish hoax. NBC Sports is reporting that USC’s athletic department has made a statement saying they hadn’t given authorization to anyone to contact possible candidates. Per the USC athletics website...

Imposters contacted coaching contacts about vacancy on behalf of USC

The University of Southern California Trojans are in need of a new football coach and apparently some imposters have taken it upon themselves to lead the search. Appearing on the Dan Patrick Show on Monday, Tony Dungy said that he had been contacted by USC about its head coaching vacancy, which the school has since issued a statement saying that isn't true. USC has been...

USC next coaching candidate

Who will be the next supposedly coaching candidate at USC?  AD Pat Haden is claiming that potential candidates are being called by non-USC officials for the next USC head coach position.  Tony Dungy was the latest to be contacted and has stated that 1. He was not interested in the position and 2. That he was reached out to by an individual acting on his own and not an approved...
