When you load up in one particular skill position it could be an indicator as to how the team will play in the forthcoming season, and perhaps beyond. When the Dallas Cowboys added veteran tight end Dante Rosario to the roster last week it suggested that the offense could be gearing up for a Patriots style offense in the coming years play. After all the outstanding play of Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez for New England has suggested that more offenses could switch to use multiple tight end sets.Rosario brings with him a six year career that has seen him haul in 99 catches, 8 of them touchdowns, and a total of 1,106 yards. He has had trouble holding down a steady job though playing for four different teams in his time in the NFL. So his sure has are what attracted Jerry Jones to sign him. This though was after he had courted and drafted Gavin Escobar from San Diego State.Nothing wrong with having some healthy competition then, but you would have to ask whether either of these two would see much playing time, unless of course the grand scheme is to feature the rotation of these two, All-Pro Jason Witten and second year player James Hanna.Of course it seems fairly inconceivable that all four will be on the roster come opening night against the New York Giants, stranger things have happened though. We know Witten is safe, having already seen off competition for his place from Anthony Fasano and Martellus Bennett. He will always be the go to guy in times of desperation. He will embrace the fact that the other three will push him hard in camp. “It’s just how those guys transition to their role – accepting that, developing that and keep getting better. Don’t take it as ‘I’m a backup player,’ but ‘Hey, I’m going to find my role and my niche,’” Witten said.3 into 1 doesn't fit. That's the clear and obvious part. The cloudy area will be played out in Oxnard during an intense camp, and then who makes the most out of their reps in pre-season. An interesting battle is set, one which could shape the dynamic of the offense and ultimately shape the 2013 campaign for the Cowboys.
