Last year was an impressive turn-around for Alex Smith.  He was once looked at as a first round bust that no matter who the coach was, he was doomed to lead the 49er's to failure. Enter Jim Harbaugh, under his tutelage, Smith led the 49er's to a NFC West title, and one game away from a Superbowl. However, due to Smith's injury, back-up rookie Colin Kaepernick has gotten the start the last two games, and has proven he is a dynamic quarterback that gives the 49er's the ability to open their playbook. Kaepernick is 2-0 and has shown he has plenty of velocity and accuracy on his throws as well as, the ability to use his legs to to make plays.  Making him a much more dynamic quarterback than Smith.Smith, (and this is not a knock) is considered a safe passer.  He doesn't try to force throws or take chances down-field unless there's a sure thing.  He is a nice quarterback to have granted he has an amazing offensive line (like the 49er's) and a complimentary running game.  He has shown he can keep teams in games and be a leader and winner. Before his injury, Smith was fifth in the NFL with a quarterback rating of 104.1 while tossing 13 touchdowns and only five interceptions, while completing an incredible 70 percent of his passes. With Kaepernick's emergence, it's assumed that Smith will be looking for employment elsewhere. Here ar the five teams that could use Smith's services.
