The deformed middle finger on Torry Holt’s left hand is hard not to notice. Or ignore. The new Patriots receiver calls it his “trophy” finger — and you can see it right here in our Tweet.
A short time ago when the wide receiver met the media on the Gillette Stadium Field, he said he gets asked about it all the time. And he didn’t mind one bit when Karen Guregian snapped this awesome picture (right).
”There’s not a day that goes by. You should see the looks. What happened?” Holt said, making faces. ”It’s just part of me. It is what it is. It’s a symbol of my work.”
Holt explained the finger is a result of many dislocations and popping it in back and forth. He’s never had surgery on it. He just deals with it which has left some interesting and rather gruesome situations.
Asked if he can still play the piano, Holt laughed and said, “I wish.”
