If there was one word to describe the weather for the first half of the Eagles Panthers game tonight it was this, sloppy the weather was terrible. The Eagles defense took the field first and forced a quick 3 and out which was much better than last week where they allowed a touchdown on the first drive. The defensive line pushed the offensive line good and the linebackers were fast and physical. I was very impressed with how Stewart Bradley anchored the defense as the MIKE. The first team secondary did not give up much through the air, Samuel had a nice swat in the beggining and Lito Sheppard had an interception as well. Even Brian Dawkins played much better football which was not seen last week. However, I would like to go back to the defensive line where I saw Jerome Mcdougle who is the dark horse to making this team. He showed once again why he deserves to stay by recording a sack, continuing the success he has had this pre-season and traninig camp. Overall I loved watching the tenacity on defense from the first team to the 3rd team it was just great fast, physical football that was played tonight. If there was anything good seen from the first team offense, it was in the first quarter when there was no rain. Mcnabb was sharp in the first quarter going 5/6 spreading the ball around, Westbrook had a few carries and some nice runs. However, once the thunderstorm hit the Linc Mcnabb and the first team offense was very sloppy. Dropped passes, inaccurate or over-thrown balls, and penalties were the story of the first half. Max Jean Gilles in particular got into trouble with penalties, tough night for the big guy. In the second half of the game the second team offense played well. Many young guys stepped up. Three young players really caught my attention tonight, one of which was quarterback Kevin Kolb, yeah so where are all the haters now? Not only did he rally the team back to win the game he made some nice throws. The second player that really impressed me was Desean Jackson, wow this kid week by week gets better. He had 7 catches for 71 yards, not only that but he contributed to the blocking game as well. The last one was Tony Hunt, yeah remember him? I remember many people saying "Hunt should be cut, he on thebootm of the depth chart." Well he silenced the critics and proved he deserves a spot on the roster by rushing for 79 yards on 5 carries. Nowit is important that Hunt takes this game as motivation and keeps improving himself.
