Trent Dilfer is in the business of giving his opinion, and he pulled no punches when reflecting on his lone season with the Browns. In an interview with Cleveland.com, the former NFL quarterback turned ESPN analyst obliterated ex-Browns offensive coordinator Maurice Carthon, whom Dilfer had the apparent displeasure of working under. "Honestly, the only thing that was a bummer was I had the worst offensive coordinator I've ever had in my career," Dilfer said. "If you ask anybody on that team that year, they'd say the same thing. We didn't have unrealistic expectations. It was a terrible hire by (then-Browns head coach Romeo Crennel). It put all of us in a terrible situation. That's the only reason. I made it very clear that I was not going to play one more snap as long as he was there." Dilfer started eleven games, winning only four, for the Browns in 2005. The team finished 6-10, mostly due to a maddeningly inconsistent offense that sc...

Donte Whitner: We have to help Josh Gordon

Browns safety Donte Whitner told SiriusXM NFL Radio that Cleveland needs to help Josh Gordon rather then just cut him and move on. “He’s a 23-year-old kid; he made some mistakes. A lot of people’s 20-year-old sons make mistakes,” Whitner told SiriusXM NFL Radio on Friday. “We have to help him, and that’s the bottom line. We have to help him collectively. It’s not going...

Power Rankings: Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon rated top-5 home run hitter in NFL

Last night, 10 of the best sluggers in Major League Baseball gathered in Minnesota for the annual Home Run Derby. It was a fun exhibition of power, a showcase for players who can change a game with one swing of the bat. In the NFL, there are similar impact athletes on each roster, guys who can change the complexion of a contest with one electric play. Sometimes, this is a team...

Cleveland Browns’ New Mascot

The Cleveland Browns will have a live bulldog as a mascot this upcoming season. This is a pretty interesting decision from a franchise that has seemed to lay dog excrement on the field over the last decade or so. Just imagine the new “mascot” deciding that pre-game is a perfect time for that daily (or in a dog’s case) 10 times per day consitutional.  Yeah. That could be a...

Camp previews should make you freaking excited!

We’ve been through the first two days of camp previews and after discussing the QB situation and the RB status, most of us feel very positive about the Browns’ team moving forward. Ya, I get that they are only two positions and that several of the players have never played a snap in a Brown uniform etc,..I don’t care. I’m excited and I think we all have reason to be. The...

Browns Injury Update: Brian Hoyer 'ready to go' for training camp

All eyes will be on Johnny Manziel when Cleveland Browns training camp starts later this month, but team brass has maintained that Brian Hoyer is the team's starting quarterback until further notice. Hoyer earned that status with 590 passing yards over a two-game stretch early last season, but he suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee against the Buffalo...

The best Nos. 80-89 in the NFL revealed; how’d the Cleveland Browns do?

Certain players are simply synonymous with certain numbers. It’s hard to see No. 4 without thinking of Brett Favre. Seven will always be John Elway. A pair of twos right next to each other is Emmitt Smith. And the sight of 56 conjures up memories of Lawrence Taylor. Those are some of the all-time greats, players who have etched their names in the NFL’s history books. But there...

Kevin Sumlin stifles all Johnny Manziel questions in Hoover

The first question Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin was asked at the podium at the SEC Media Days was about if he missed coaching Johnny Manziel and something to do with the young quarterback who will replace him. In a roundabout answer, Sumlin eventually said, regarding the Manziel part, "[that's] irrelevant to me. The question is: What do you do next?" A couple...

Former NFL QB and ESPN analyst Trent Dilfer still remembers his time with the Cleveland Browns.  Dilfer had great things to say about the organization and the fan base.
