Cleveland Browns rookie running back Trent Richardson spoke to NFL Network reporter Steve Wyche at the NFL combine, and said his fellow rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden had trouble reading defenses. He also said the coaching staff had to shorten the playbook in order for Weeden to be effective. Weeden is caught in a change of coaching staff’s and will be in a battle for his job as soon as free agency starts. However, it’s not uncommon for a rookie quarterback to struggle to read the field, but for one of his teammates to make a comment like that shows a little lack of trust. "He [Richardson] also told me a little bit more about Brandon Weeden,'' Wyche said, via Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plains Dealer. "He said as a rookie, [Weeden] really had trouble reading defenses from time to time and they had to skew their offense a little bit, sometimes somewhat predictable. [He] thinks things are going to open up a little bit, but he really does like Brandon Weeden.'' "I think he'll be my quarterback,'' Richardson said. "We can't put too much on Brandon, especially as a rookie. ... We want to make sure he believes, he knows he's going to be our quarterback. When it comes to stuff like that, we've just all got to be behind him.''   var switchTo5x=true; stLight.options({publisher:''});
