Let's call a spade a spade, shall we? The replacement officials used by the National Football League have been utterly atrocious so far during the regular season, and definitely deserve some criticism thrown their way because of it. With that said, there's no real justification for what New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick did immediately following his team's 31-30 loss to the Baltimore Ravens Sunday night.
Unhappy with a controversial ending, Belichick goes after one of the officials afterward and makes unnecessary contact, as you can see in the video above. Just for the record, the video replay confirmed that the play in questions, the game-winning field goal, was clearly good. Legendary broadcaster Al Michaels said it best when the incident first happened on the air.
"Oh, boy. Well, that's a few bucks," proclaimed Michaels.
A hefty fine and possible suspension likely waits ahead for Belichick as he will no doubt receive a phone call from the NFL regarding the situation.
Patriots linebacker Brandon Spikes may also face reprimand, as well, for what he said to say about the "zebras" after the game.
