The Pittsburgh Steelers will be celebrating their 80th season, so the team unveiled their throwback 1934 uniforms — and they look absolutely hideous.
Fortunately, the black-and-gold striped jerseys will be worn for just two games in 2012.
“We wanted to go back … and recall some of the early days of the franchise,” Steelers’ President Art Rooney II said. “Back in the early 1990′s we wore the 1933 jersey for our throwback game, so we thought the 1934 jersey would be something different and would help us recall the early days of pro football.”
The uniform’s pants are mustard yellow. The Steelers will stick with their normal black helmets as part of the throwback uniform.
“It’ll be interesting to see how our fans react to it. It’s very different, kind of eye-popping, so it’ll be fun to see how everyone reacts to it. It’ll be fun to see [the players] reaction to it too.”
“They went waaaay back for this one,” Steelers running back Isaac Redman said. “I don’t know how everybody else is going to take it, but I really like the uniform. I like the stripes. But we’ll see. We’ll see the reactions.”
Honoring history is one thing.
Choosing a uniform design that won’t fly in 2012 is something else.

Last I checked, the Pittsburgh Steelers were a proud franchise, and one of the signature organizations of the NFL. But in recent years they have done things that have left ya scratching your head. Take for instance, this guy. But now they have done something that should even have their fans running for the bathroom, [...]
The beuatiful jerseys caused such an uproar that Redman was forced to take a selfie in the bathroom.
Hey, Nike really outdid themselves here, right? Just totally reinventing the uniform game. Easily the sickest jerseys since Maryland debuted their split personality Under Armour ones last season.
We’ve done absolutely nothing all day in anticipation of the Steelers showing off their new throwback uniforms for the first time and man, we’re we disappointed when Isaac Redman rolled out the 1934-themed duds.
Redzone tweeted that he loved the new unis and can’t wait to wear them but you have to think that’s only because he works for the team that allowed them to be...

The Steelers, with the help of RB Isaac Redman, finally revealed the throwback uniforms that they will be wearing in 2012 to honor the team's 80th anniversary. The are....unique. Fan reaction...
The Steelers unveiled throwback jerseys they will wear this season to celebrate their 80th anniversary (the franchise began playing in the NFL in 1933). The team’s official Twitter account shared photos of running back Isaac Redman modeling the jersey, and I must say, they are hideous. They would definitely be right up there with the Broncos on our list of worst throwback jerseys...
Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton said NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and Pittsburgh Steelers owner Art Rooney will be in Minnesota Friday to talk to lawmakers about the urgency of a stadium deal. Rooney leads the NFL's stadium committee.
Probably one of the terms of a confidential settlement but we can only guess, of course.
Steelers RB Isaac Redman explains a$$hole hiding techniques on Twitter.
Anyway, Oprah will love them.
Back in a few to talk about the Browns schedule.
This photo, apparently taken in a public restroom at the Steelers' facility, features Isaac Redman sporting the Steelers' latest money-making venture throwback uniform. It's a replica of the 1934 Steelers, a team that went 40 freaking years before not being a laughing stock. We're not sure if these are supposed to look more like bumble bees or cartoon prison uniforms...
Yesterday, the NFL's Pittsburgh Steelers revealed their new throwback jerseys celebrating the team's 80th year in existence.
To be honest, they aren't exactly the prettiest jerseys on the world and poor Isaac Redman for having to be the first seen in them:

These last 2 weeks have nothing short of glorious if you’re a Steelers fan. Ramon Foster and David Johnson sign their tender offers, Jerricho Cotchery is brought back on a 2 yr. deal and a reserve Tight End Leonard Pope comes over from Kansas City. And now today as was previously reported, Charlie Batch is back for his annual contract to backup Ben Roethlisberger. How can you not...
