EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Christian Ballard's absence from the Minnesota Vikings is going into its second week and coach Leslie Frazier still isn't sure when the third-year defensive tackle might return to the team.
Frazier offered an update on Ballard, who's been out because of a personal matter since he appeared in the team's first preseason game on Aug. 9 on Sunday and wasn't sure when Ballard might return. The team placed Ballard on the active-left squad list because of the absence.
"Hopefully, things will work out for him," Frazier said. "But he has some personal things he has to get taken care of. But that's where he'll be for now."
Ballard, 24, has played in every game as a reserve since he was a third-round pick out of Iowa in 2011. He has 29 career tackles, one sack and two fumble recoveries in his career.
Ballard had been dealing with a groin injury and he had a sack in the preseason opener against the Houston Texans. Ballar...
