Vikings defensive end Jared Allen was one of four players who did not practice Wednesday, still dealing with a groin injury he suffered in the second half of last weekend's win at Detroit. Also out today were receiver Michael Jenkins (ribs) and safeties Mistral Raymond (ankle) and Andrew Sendejo (ankle).
Quarterback Christian Ponder, meanwhile, was a limited participant in practice with a knee injury. Ponder's knee injury isn't figured to be serious but will be worth keeping an eye on as the week progresses. Other Vikings limited today were Henerson (concussion), left guard Charlie Johnson (low back), cornerback Antoine Winfield (knee) and corner Marcus Sherels (quadriceps).

Vikings the 2012 surprise playoff team
Minneapolis, MN Before the 2012 NFL season began, it was basically a forgone conclusion that when dissecting the NFC North, it would end up being a three team race. Ponder and the Vikings emerge as dark horse contenders
While it’s still a little early to label the Minnesota Vikings as NFC North favorites, they certainly look like the most consistent team in the division. The defense has looked good enough and...

Minnesota Vikings defensive end Jared Allen once again missed practice on Thursday with a groin injury. With each passing day that he doesn’t practice, it’s more likely that he’ll not play this week against the Titans.

Matt Kalil has not allowed a sack so far in his NFL career
A big reason that the Vikings are off to a good record is the due in fact to the protection that Christian Ponder has received. Ponder has not thrown an interception all year and has not seen a real pressure yet from his blindside because the Vikings first-round LT Matt Kalil hasn’t allowed a sack through four games. Kalil, the No. 4 overall pick in the draft, has been as good...
