Vikings hope for matchup nightmare at tight end with Shiancoe, Rudolph

It was fun catching Larry Fitzgerald's player workout yesterday at the University of Minnesota. For one, there are worse things in life than watching Fitzgerald catch passes. Also, the practice was a chance to catch up with a few Vikings who attended the workout. Here's my post-practice story, which appeared in today's Pioneer Press, about rookies Christian Ponder and Kyle Rudolph already forming a close bond before playing an NFL snap. They practice, play and live together. One highlight was watching the two tight ends, Visanthe Shiancoe and Rudolph, work out together for the first time. Both seemed to encourage each other on sprints and route running. Ponder, for one, is excited about the possibilities of having both options on the field at the same time.
