Vikings star Adrian Peterson relinquished his NFL rushing crown last year to LeSean McCoy.
That's OK. Now the Vikings have a guy who compares to himself to McCoy.
That would be Jerick McKinnon, taken in the third round of the recent NFL draft. If you had never heard of him before his selection, that's because he played out of the spotlight at Georgia Southern.
But McKinnon is talking as if he figures soon to be in the spotlight. When asked what back he would compare himself to, he pointed to the Philadelphia star who led the NFL in rushing last season with 1,607 yards.
"LeSean McCoy,'' McKinnon said. "Just that run out of the shotgun in between tackles, outside zone, and stretch and come out of the backfield. So I'd probably say something like that.''
McCoy is 5 feet 10, 215 pounds. McKinnon has similar dimensions at 5-9, 209 pounds.
